WASHINGTON
U.S. officials say the Navy is beefing up its presence in the Persian Gulf region, increasing the number of aircraft carriers from one to two.
The Norfolk-based Harry S. Truman has arrived in the Arabian Sea and was scheduled to take the place of the Nimitz, which was supposed to head home. The Navy has ordered the Nimitz, which is in the Indian Ocean, to stay for now.
U.S. officials describe the decision as prudent planning and say it doesn't suggest the carrier would play a role in any possible strikes in Syria. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss ship movements publicly.
The U.S. had kept two carriers in the region, but budget cuts in February forced officials to cut that to one.
Which ship? Will you post a link? I cannot find any. Thanks!
This Just in...it sucks to remain on station when you thought you were heading home..I would not be surprised to see one of the ships, more than likely Truman to be sent back through the Suez and off the Syrian coast as someone suggested.
If there is a attack on Syria, Iran will not back down and Hezbollah will open a second front
Russia is not going to go easy this time, they are 100% standing by Assad no matter what and they seem hell bent on saving him
Putin is also threatening Saudis, Russia has no intention of letting this one go they have invested too much in Syria for too long
What happens if Russia starts positioning its ships off the coast of Syria and try's to block any attack? Even if a Russian vessel is hit by accident the situation will escalate

Ok this is getting crazier everyday. There hasn't been this much tension between the US and Russia since the Cold War days and the Cuban Missile Crisis. I wasn't born during the Kennedy years but I'm sure some of you older members do remember the intensity of it all.
The Brits just bowed out. Their parliament voted against taking part in any military action against Syria.
