The West wants to cut ties with the insurgents sure, but everyone knows it is now the Sunni/Wahabi regimes in the Gulf who are funding the insurgents in Syria (by majority, if not solely), with money guns and men. Who'd think anyone other than those princes and sultans are backing those AQ lunatics all these years anyway? If anyone really want this civil war to end, first think about how to shut down the backing from the Gulf.
And Turkey...they've an Islamist government voted into office by democratic elections, so unless there's a change of heart from top to bottom - by peaceful means or otherwise - the insurgents will still have a save haven to operate at the Turkish-Syrian border region.
Funny this, 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi yet US is selling billions worth of weapons to Saudi, last week Saudi prince just pardoned 1,200 criminals from Saudi jails the deal being they all travel to Syria to fight against the Assad regime
Very few country's have a true working relationship for example like Sino-Pak, most country's are just concerned about personal interests, politics is a very dirty business and I stay away from it as far as I can
