This is different from Aleppo. The fall of Aleppo, you could say it was because the highway was cut off, government forces were caught off guard, there was no real fighting. Hama, the government tried, but they were flat out beaten. This is really bad for them.

The present course of development in Syria certainly looks increasingly worse for the Chinese embassy to publish warnings like this one - Not just warning Chinese citizens to avoid regions of conflict, but to warn Chinese citizens against any travel to Syria, and to request any Chinese citizens still in Syria to leave at the earliest available opportunity.
It somehow echoes with similar warnings from the Chinese Embassy in Kabul through May-July 2021.

I meant they will have to deal with it in a political manner, e.g. reach some kind of accommodation.
But the government will be ok if it can hold the south. The further the rebels move, the longer their supply lines.

Assad was only holding on thanks to his patrons Russia and Iran aided by Iranian shia militias all around the region plus Hezbollah..without this foreign players he would long have been toppled after the syrian uprisings and revolution started.
Hopefully he realises he cant keep ruling syria as it is and leaves power. Let an interim government take over and general elections be organised. Iran and Russia will have to accept this reality if it does happens. Afterall, a regime cant keep surviving if most of the people(even governments own troops/soldiers) dont find it worth dying for, shows that they dont like or trust the regime itself that much.
