Actually if anything the Klingons are closer to being Russian or Japanese, whereas the Romulans are more likely the Asian analogue because of their connection with the Vulcans clearly indicates a NKorea/SKorea type of characterization.

I won't deny that the original series writers were using the Klingons to represent the Russian. But I also can not dismiss the new material that lends to a fuller picture.

The big thing the keeps me from seeing the Romulans as Chinese. Federation is formed as a military alliance and bulwark against the Romulans not the Klingons. Just as NATO was form to stand against the Russians the Vulcans are western Europeans while the Russians are the Romulans. The Klingons are more of a nuisance compared to the Romulans as a whole.

Kahless like Gwan Yu a warrior elevated to deity.

In the original Star Trek I always imagined the Klingons being the Russians and the Romulans as the Chinese, since the Romulans received the klingon equipment such as the DS-7 cruisers. Just like the Chinese in the 70s receive much of the higher tech military equipment from the Russians

This is somewhat a creation designed to reign in production cost.

The Klingon's in the Original series were always meant to be Russian, at the Time of the TOS the Chinese were still more or less bit players.
Look at the Klingon's in the Series, they conformed to American Propaganda of Russians in a number of episodes they play roles seen in real life being played by the Russians, A private little War is a parable of the Vietnam war. a local people divided into two factions, The Klingon's are arming on half Kirk starts arming the other side and it all goes to hell when his Phaser gets into the hands of the locals.
The Romulans were The Chinese, the Technology exchange of the Enterprise incident. I mean Even the division of Vulcan and Romulan Culture although Revered was a direct parallel to the ROC( Taiwan), PRC dispute.

Though what ever the Klingons inspiration metamorphoses may be through out the years of the franchise by dozens and possible hundreds of writers will ultimately end up making it impossible to figure out.

About Klingon's from wiki;

As originally developed by screenwriter Gene L. Coon, Klingons were swarthy humanoids characterized mainly by prideful ruthlessness and brutality. Totalitarian, and with a martial society relaying on slave labor, they reflected analogies with both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Although Cold War tensions are apparent in the characterization, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry did not intend any explicit political parallels. With a greatly expanded budget for makeup and effects, the Klingons were completely redesigned in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), acquiring ridged foreheads that created a continuity error not explained by Star Trek canon until 2005. In later films and in the spin-off series Star Trek: The Next Generation, the militaristic traits of the Klingons were bolstered by an increased sense of honor and strict warrior code similar to those of bushido.

About Romulans from wiki:

The Romulans are a fictional extraterrestrial humanoid species in the science fiction franchise Star Trek. First appearing in the original Star Trek series in the 1966 episode "Balance of Terror", they have since made appearances in all the main later Star Trek series: The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. In addition, they have appeared in various spin-off media, and prominently in the two films Star Trek Nemesis (2002) and Star Trek (2009).

Throughout the series, they are generally depicted as antagonists, who are always at war or in an uneasy truce with the United Federation of Planets, the show's state of which Earth is a founding member.
The Romulans also act as a counterpoint to the logical Vulcan race, whom they resemble and with whom they share a common ancestry. As such, the Romulans are characterized as passionate, cunning, and opportunistic — in every way the opposite of the logical Vulcans. The Romulans are the dominant race of the Romulan Star Empire. Star Trek Star Charts place the Romulan Empire's territory in the Beta Quadrant of the galaxy, however, in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, they are referred to as an Alpha Quadrant power.

The Romulans were created by Paul Schneider, who said "it was a matter of developing a good Romanesque set of admirable antagonists ... an extension of the Roman civilization to the point of space travel". There are some differences in their history and the way they are portrayed on television, in the motion pictures and in several books by Diane Duane, called the Rihannsu series, after the term they use to refer to themselves in their Romulan native language.

Come on TerraN, admit it! You secretly want a B'Elanna Torres from Star Trek Voyager. For me it would be a tie between Jadzia Dax, T’Pol or 7 of 9.

I have to admit that Star Trek has a multitude of attractive ladies. Makes me want to be James T Kirk
:)

Torres never really crossed my mind but the Klingon first officer from Start trek 5 is another story.

Will all those many different female alien species he slept with, I'm surprised the Federation didn't quarantine him in a lab to test out new discovery of STDs.:p

The biology may not compatible, like cats and dogs. That maybe the only thing that has saved Kirk so far.

Gives a new meaning to the word Klingon (cling on).
