Yes, I wasn't a fan of the Syfy channel BSG. Great special effects though. It's makes me wonder how much input he had with DS9. I just finished watching Moore's Helix's first season. I'm still trying to figure what that's about.

I was looking forward to Bryan Singer's version especially the TV show when they were toying with that before Ronald Moore took over. Unlike the people in the comments of the article... DO NOT follow the recent TV series.

Battlestar Galactica was one of my favourite television programs (2003 to 2009 version). I hope the new movie is as god or better than the series. Maybe I should not get my hopes to high.

My problem with Moore's BSG was pretty much like JJ Abrams' Lost. You can tell they didn't have plan which is why the whole point of looking for Earth only happened literally in the last season. Everything else in between was just a bunch of filler. Does anyone believe that the producers knew who were the "original" Cylons from season one? Colonel Tigh and Commander Adama were cadet buddies. Colonel Tigh was an original. So Adama didn't notice his old cadet buddy was literally old back then and never aged. If you look at the flashbacks these human Cyclons don't age and don't change. They didn't explain that one because they didn't care about the continuity of the series which says the producers were just producing episodes day-by-day that were just filler.

I know people who love Moore's BSG but hate the original series... point to the cheesy. Yes it was cheesy but at least there was a sense they were being hunted down by the Cylons. Stargate Universe died a quick death because they tried to replicate what they did with BSG. The show was basically about the characters and the personal drama within their own lives. It wasn't about the ancient ship they were stuck on and couldn't control and what unknown situations were going to be forced upon them because of it... and how they were going to get home. Just like Moore's BSG wasn't about finding Earth because the survival of humankind depended on it. I don't have a problem with character development which one can argue that's what it is. I do have a problem that it didn't serve anything. Usually when you get to know characters that's because it serves to understand how the characters react to situations down the line from the main story.

Exactly! I loved Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, but stopped watching SG: Universe after only a couple of episodes. I love to watch Stargate because it's fun and exciting, with great humour and chemistry between the main characters. SGU replaced all of that with personal drama that you can find in Melrose's Place. I think the moment I realized that SGU was *not* Stargate was when they spent most of an episode in a nightclub talking about relationship problems.

But still failed to give us a coherent answer to how Starbuck came back or Baltar's angels. God did it is about as effective an explanation as a Wizard did it

True. They (the writers) never explained the Starbuck coming back as an angle (a lustful one at that). Also that whole thing about the original Seven seeing a vision of Baltar and Baltar seeing a vision of Seven that provided advice and counselling. Where they supposed to be “angles” also?

Stargate was a great show but it did start to lose its way when the Goa'uld where defeated and the Ori arc became the new villain.

I also didn’t like the chemistry that Claudia Black brought to the program.
