What makes me excited is the end of nostalgic storylines. Enough with the past. Since I live in the San Francisco area, the local news had reports on site at LucasFilm. Apparently there was a huge meeting of the staff and workers with Lucas and Disney executives. Not sure what to make of it but the people coming back from the meeting didn't look happy and when asked they wouldn't comment. It could be because they're now part of a media corporation when Lucas has built his empire from being independent from Hollywood. Or if that says something about the direction of how the movies are going to be made since Disney itself has a bad reputation behind the scenes.

I wouldn't worry about it and I think they'll be a lot of older folks than you think.. as you know the first one came out in 77 and most of the fans who saw it then were in their 20s and 30s so they're all about your age or older.

I just HOPE they don;t turn it into a kiddie movie because SW was never intended to be a kid's movie. Lucas tried it in ep 1 and failed miserably!

If either the Jedi or the Sith uses their lightsaber to decapitate Jar Jar Binks in episode 7, I'll go see the movie 10 times.

I'd say this is huge news. More Star Wars movies ahead. Not sure if this is good news or bad news since George Lucas has been dropping the ball lately.

Well, I think the biggest, if not only reason Disney paid so much for the company is to get the rights to make more Star Wars Movies, and actually, this deal means that Lucas will not be the director of the new films, and would only be a consultant.

Now, obviously his views and opinions would still carry massive weight, but we will not be calling all the shots, and with the way Ep I-III turned out, I think that is probably a good thing, because one can get too attached to one's project/concept and not ask the 'is that really a good idea?' questions when one probably should.

IIRC, Disney also owns Marvel, and the Marvel films are pretty watchable on balance and some of them are actually quiet dark and not sanitized kiddy fluff as Star Wars Ep I was. So I wouldn't be all that worried that Micky Mouse now owns Star Wars. :p

If they set up an independent department and give them as much creative room as they had with Marvel, and pick a decent director and solid cast, there is ever chance these new films will be more in line with the first trilogy.

True, but will the new Star War movie script and writing improve or water down to Disney level (anything to get a rated PG) that's the question I'm wondering?

Not just movies. Remember George Lucas practically created the movie licensing product business. That's the golden egg. No other studio puts that much emphasis on movie related products than Disney.
