Star Wars & Sc-Fi Talk

And of course, DS9 was a rip-off of Babylon 5. :)

Babylon 5 was one of the most under-appreciated Sci-Fi series of all time. Remember the original StarCraft cinematics? Those zerg guardians looked suspiciously like the Shadows of Babylon 5.

It's also one of the first Sci-Fi I've seen that makes use of "organic spaceships".

Diplomatic Outposts aren't exactly hubs of excitement :D

Unless it served both as a trade post and a diplomatic station..., where anything goes, I mean why not? Who goes all the way in the middle of the galaxy just for a UN (universal nations) type discussion?:D

Those Centauri women look nice. You can also tell that Centauri Ambassador Mollari must throw some great parties……….:p

some of the best ship designs I've ever seen is from Babylon 5. They were exotic. Combinations of flowers, insect, sea creatures..... They seem to have influence other sci-fi shows as well. I honestly hope J. Michael Straczynski get to do a big-screen Babylon 5. He already wrote in Changeling & Thor.

If there was a Babylon 5 movie ahead, it might have to be filmed in another country. When Straczynski did the TV series, the production was done with non-union workers which angered a lot of the unions in Hollywood. Plus don't count on any of the original cast appearing. Half of them are dead. I wonder if the show was cursed or they just didn't have adequate healthcare from not being in a union.

I watched John Carter today. Tried to post earlier but the site seemed out. I have to say I enjoyed it. Was it one of the best sci-fi out there? All I can say it was better than what Hollywood's been dishing of late. Never read the books but always heard of it since I was a kid. That being said I can tell they had left out stuff. Not surprising since books turned into movies have to yield to the constraints of a feature length movie. Supposedly it got horrible word of mouth. Not really sure why except why did it cost $250 million? Sad since if it doesn't make its money back, no sequel is likely.

Even though I personally could care less about this in a movie but in this day and age they probably needed a bigger name in the starring role. Also some of the knuckleheads at Disney probably thought because this came from a series of books, it automatically translated to Twilight type following. That's all the rage at the studios trying to find a book series to turn into a movie. Personally I don't know why it cost that much to make. This could've been a case of creative accounting.
