Can China do anything to defend against this?

It's ridiculous how this is even allowed. They're not gonna act in good faith
It's not "allowed" by anyone. They won't have jurisdiction to question the Chinese swimmers or to enter the premises of the Chinese team. They simply hope to snoop around, maybe find a drug syringe fallen out of a Chinese athlete's pocket and take that evidence to WADA to change thier mind. It's really pathetic when cops have to try to be cops in an environment where they don't have the power to be cops.

The defense is to win and make sure nobody in WADA gets bribed or even if they do, use legal channels to force them to stick to the initial ruling.

The real problem is that the 2028 Olympics happen in Los Angeles. This is gonna be a stage for the US to go absolutely powerdrunk planting evidence, arresting people, faking test results, etc... Something needs to be worked out for Los Angeles; Chinese (and all foreign) athletes can only be tested by WADA and need to have diplomatic immunity against all American agents. Drug samples need to be kept under accountable uncut neutral video surveillance at all times and tests run in the presense of experts from all sides. If this promise is not met, I would suggest that China pull out citing safety concerns and blow the matter up as loudly as possible on the global stage that America and its cowards fear fair competition are unfit to host any games. Who's going to take an Olympics seriously when 2 out of the 3 major global powers are sitting out?

Watching Zheng vs Vekic for the US open now round 16. This is the chick Zheng just beat at the Olympics for the gold medal. Zheng took set 1 but it went all the way the tiebreaker where Zheng won 7-2, so basically not as dominant as she was in Paris.

I just realized that the US Open happens in the US because the time had made me think this shit was happening in Europe or something. Why the hell are they playing at 1am??? I've never seen another sport do this before!

Zheng's mental resilience is inspirational. She could score more aces than Michael Chang.

In a repeat of the Paris 2024 Olympic gold-medal match, Zheng held off an outstanding effort from the 24th-ranked Croatian to make her second consecutive US Open quarterfinal and second Grand Slam quarterfinal of the season.
