Well, Zheng suffered her first loss since the Olympics, to #2 ranked Aryna Sabalenka the Belarussian Beast! Absolutely mauled Zheng 6-1, 6-2 sets. Insane power on all the shots, basically kept Zheng struggling just to get the ball back without any ability to use strategy. Every time, after about 2-3 returns, Sabalenka got Zheng into a position where Zheng was running and completely committed in one direction just to return a ball that looks like it was hand fed to Sabalenka's ideal position at low speed so Sabalenka would easily power it the other direction with no chance of reaction from Zheng. Hard to see how she can ever overcome Sabalenka's power; I read somewhere that her forehand is so fast it's competitive with the top tier of male players and faster than Djokovic. She's 6' tall and has a treek tunk for a torso so it figures. Would be shocked it she doesn't win the US Open. Zheng's coach would have to be a wizard to get her past this monster in the future. Luckily for us, she passed on Paris cus she said her knee might go bust playing on red clay so I guess if she goes down, that's how...

Before that Olympic gold, you'd have to pay me in $100 wads to take the time to learn about tennis and watch the US Open LOL

These Belarus players should be banned from tennis for now.

That has nothing to do with it I am afraid as much as I want to agree with you about the U.S. being or becoming a malfunctioning state. Zheng and Vevic are just not household names yet in America; whereas on the men side, there's an American playing and he's also Black which is still not a common sight in men's Tennis.

If Zheng manages to continue making inroads by winning her matches starting tomorrow against a very hard hitting Sabalenka and then Zheng winning the U.S. Open 2024, Zheng would be provided and privileged with her matches next year.

They just scheduled all the round of 16 matches onto the 2 main courts, regardless of the rankings or the popularity of the players. But at
least they should start all matches at the scheduled time, regardless of any matches running longer than expected. They probably do not want any overlap, but then any spectators with tickets cannot watches 2 matches at the same time.

For the same reason that they are banned from the Olympics.
No, that is an unjust reason forged from Western cowardice and helplessness. They deserve to play and play under their flag as patriots to their country just like Russians. An honorable loss is infinitely better than a stolen victory by banning the champ for political reasons. Good for Zheng and great for Sabalenka.
