Interesting to see the obvious bias in Aus media when reporting on this topic.
Swimming is pretty popular here cuz Aus swimmers tend to do well on international stage despite the small population so some swimmer even became global super stars like Thorpe.

this is recent article on their swimmer who tested positive for banned substance before. Pretty much a white washing piece.

this is their article on Chinese swimmers who allegedly failed doping tests but are in fact cleared.

Not even gonna mention their previous reporting on Sun Yang

I predict there will be more accusations and negative stories coming out from US, UK and Aus. These countries have dominated elite swimming. But China is projected to do well in swimming events in the coming Olympic games with the rise of many young guns and the continued good performances from the older experienced swimmers. The three countries whose swimmers have most to lose due to rise in Chinese swimming will be mainly US, UK and Aus.
This is more of a political issue that makes use of lawfare. Sun Yang didn't even get banned for being positive but because he didn't know what was the process legally and was too arrogant.

That won't work with the new guys. If they get golds, the west will hope they get caught but won't because they know the process and cannot be trapped. Western tactics only work the first time usually. They can cope and seethe.

It won't work in the sense they can't get Chinese athletes banned but it always about spreading the misinformation, controlling the anti china narrative. Linking the Chinese swimmers with doping. That's how westerners get propagandized. May or may not distract the Chinese swimmers themselves but it cause controversy whenever a Chinese athlete wins. Like an artificial asterisk on their results. We have to be aware of their shenanigans.

Doesn't matter. If they can't actually prove it and get it stripped, the gold medal record remains. They can only cope and seethe about it.
Whether they think its legit doesn't mean anything since they are not acting in good faith from the start. If they can't find fault they'll just move the goalpost. Instead of entertraining their requests, you should just rub it in even more and make them mald even more. Maybe they won't feel so comfortable doing it then.

China needs to get better training in mens and womens basketball.

They relied too much on Yao Ming. Without him there's not enough genuine support for the sport. Even if the Philippines never get anywhere, they have more actual passion for the sport.

17-year old Chinese basketball star Zhang Ziyu has become a sensation on Western social media. Often drawing comparisons to Yao Ming. All she needs is some coaching to coordinate her feet off the dribble better and she will become unstoppable. I'm sure the WNBA has taken notice with their recent explosion in popularity.

Is she playing for China's Olympic team this summer? If so they may stand a good chance to medal.

the player talent is a big issue, after the golden era of Yao , Yi Jian Lian and Wang zhizhi, there no one else comparable after them to continue Chinese dominance in Asia. Now a few Asian countries have caught up and the usual big powers continue to widen the gap with China. Coaching is another, I feel the current coaching talent in China is not good enough. This is my opinion though I don’t know the true story. however I doubt support for the sports is a big issue, Yao Ming helped to popularise the sports and nba in China. basketball continue to be a popular sport in China. Some even mention it’s more popular than football or soccer. I’m not sure if it’s just for viewing figures or participation though.
