I saw that match. I think the coach is Chinese because I heard him keep saying "Don't be afraid of losing" in the critical moments of winning or losing the match which I thought was distracting but in the end may prove otherwise, lol.

That is some fantastic advice. As I recall, there were at least 4 instances at the Tokyo Olympics where a Chinese athlete lost the gold medal match in a combat art despite actually leading (sometimes by as much as 4-0) but shifted everything to defense and avoidance hoping to run the clock down on his/her opponent. This made him/her no longer dangerous, allowing the opponent to take every chance to attack wrecklessly without fear of counter. Essentially, they all lost in the same fashion in which a trained and disciplined fighter can lose to a crazy person. These 4 losses meant that China won 0 gold medals in combat arts. If they had fought on as they had during the whole match, they should have won but fear of losing the gold medal made them lose.

When in a combat sport, always remember Mike Tyson's words, "If I don't kill him, it don't count."

So China apparently qualified to the next round for the world cup qualifiers in football.

This was however mainly because Singapore over performed and scored a goal against Thailand. Therefore even though China and Thailand have the same points, China barely won out via tiebreakers and was higher in the group of 4. If Singapore didn't score, China would already be finished here.

Honestly kinda pathetic how China barely scrapped by because another country decided to step it up. I don't have much hope for a team like this to do better in the next round.

Today's credit goes not really to China but to Singapore.

Yup.. at least we survive. There's little hope left for this generation. Eyes are on the next gen to make a splash. I'm hopefully optimistic.

Yeah the men’s NT is just not good enough. Advancing to the next stage is pointless cuz the team won’t be good enough to survive in the World Cup finals. I guess the only good thing to come out of this is maybe give some experience to the young blood for the future cuz the present first teamers are below the level of Asia’s best teams like Japan kor aus and Saudi Arabia etc.

The events did make famous Singapore goal keeper in China. He became a hero after saving like 8 shots to prevent a bigger score line against Thailand which would have sent them thorough instead of China, many mainland chinese expressed their thanks online and those in Singapore even went to his family owned hawker stall and bought food as a sign of appreciation.

Please next time, try not to be persuaded so rather quickly from any and all of these usual western led misinformation/disinformation/propaganda outlets without verifying first with Chinese news sources, or verify the veracity of the claims and accusations leveled against a Chinese person, Chinese company, Chinese people, country etc....
Interesting to see the obvious bias in Aus media when reporting on this topic.
Swimming is pretty popular here cuz Aus swimmers tend to do well on international stage despite the small population so some swimmer even became global super stars like Thorpe.

this is recent article on their swimmer who tested positive for banned substance before. Pretty much a white washing piece.

this is their article on Chinese swimmers who allegedly failed doping tests but are in fact cleared.

Not even gonna mention their previous reporting on Sun Yang

I predict there will be more accusations and negative stories coming out from US, UK and Aus. These countries have dominated elite swimming. But China is projected to do well in swimming events in the coming Olympic games with the rise of many young guns and the continued good performances from the older experienced swimmers. The three countries whose swimmers have most to lose due to rise in Chinese swimming will be mainly US, UK and Aus.
