Yes, but that is not the most impressive. The most impressive is that Tang lost to Ruta due to technical fault, NOT because she was just too slow. This was touched upon by the Chinese commentator; as soon as the race ended, he said, "Tang's finish was flawed and she will have to work on that in the future." Swimmers count strokes and know how many it takes for them to finish the 50 meter pool. It seems Tang lost track somewhere and that caused her stroke to be out of tune with the length of the pool. Ruta finished perfectly; on the last stroke, with outstretched arms, she powered into the wall. Tang's outstretched arms missed the wall by about a foot or 2 and she had to initiate another stroke, rescinding her arms, and that caused her race time to be suboptimal. If she had not made that mistake, she would have been faster and she might have beaten Ruta. Despite this mistake, she still made 2 Asian records in 2 swims. This competition really did what it was supposed to for these young swimmers, which is give them experience and this one will serve her well.
