Re: ASEAN military news
Yeah, I feel there were some moments in those clips that seem like baiting. The second clip was the one that initially showed the cameraman's ship behind port side of the Chinese vessel, then it was ahead, then it cut across the path of the Chinese ship twice. Both seemed to be moving at a fast pace. Then it appears the Chinese ship gained speed but the water wash didn't seem any different. Then one can hear a horn before collision, almost like a car honking after being cut off and couldn't avoid slamming into the car that cut it off. Who's to say the cameraman's ship didn't slow down and the Chinese ship rearended it? Ships don't stop on a dime.
Also, at 0:16, one can see the wake trail of the Chinese ship, it isn't a straight line and then veering port to cut across the trajectory of the cameraman's ship. It shows the Chinese ship actually veering starboard before veering port. Yet, the cameraman's ship stayed parallel to the Chinese ship when the Chinese ship veered starboard before the Chinese ship cuts port and crossing the trajectory of cameraman's ship. If the Chinese ship was behind cameraman's ship, veering starboard initially, and if the cameraman's ship held course, we should see the Chinese ship veer away starboard, yet we see parallel which means the cameraman's ship was matching course of Chinese ship. I wouldn't call that the Chinese ship trying to aim for the cameraman's ship at all.
Exactly. You see a Chinese ship come up port side aft on a Vietnamese ship and seemingly ram it out of the way. But what you don't see are the moments that led up to the collision. How do we know that the Vietnamese ship didn't cut in front of the Chinese ship and then deliberately slow down to cause a collision? What we need are the several minutes of footage before the collision event so we can judge for ourselves who caused what, but inconveniently this footage begins only moments before the event.
