Tanks and APCs Apparently Come from Ukraine

Defence Minister Tea Banh confirmed yesterday at an event at the Ministry of Defence marking today’s 59th anniversary of Cambodia’s independence from France that last month’s shipment of tanks and armoured personnel carriers had come from Ukraine.

First F-16 RTAF to Enter MLU Program

On 13 November 2012 a ceremony for hand over of the first F-16 from 403th Squadron to enter the first scheme of the MLU program was held in the Thai Aviation Industries - Aircraft Maintenance Division at Takhli Nakhonsawan, Thailand.

All Mid-Life Upgrade program for 18 F-16A/B will run for four years. Also attending the event were representatives from the Royal Thai Air Force, Thai Aviation Industries, and Lockheed Martin.

Cambodia's Defense Budget Rose 14% in 2013

About 100 tanks and 40 armoured personnel carriers arrived in Cambodia last month, marking one of the largest military shipments in recent history. The purchase falls in line with a military budget that has seen significant ramping up in recent years. In the most recent budget, expected to be voted into effect tomorrow, defence spending is set to jump more than 14 per cent to $400.16 million in 2013.

Philippines to Buy 2 Brand New ASW Helicopter

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of National Defense (DND) is planning to acquire two brand new naval helicopters with anti-submarine capabilities to enhance the capabilities of the military.

DND Undersecretary Fernando Manalo said the department is now awaiting the issuance of an acquisition defense memorandum (ADM), which would start the procurement and would signal the project’s implementation.
