Amid Row with China, PHL Signs Defense Procurement Deal with Canada

Canada and the Philippines signed a deal Saturday to help Manila buy military equipment to defend its territory, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Filipino President Benigno Aquino said.

The Philippine defense department and state-run Canadian Commercial Corp. signed the agreement as Harper met Aquino at Malacañang Palace in Manila, the two leaders announced at a joint news conference.

Airbus Military and PT Dirgantara Indonesia Sign Agreement to Launch Upgraded Version of C212

Airbus Military and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) have signed an agreement to jointly launch an upgraded version of the Airbus Military C212-400 as a further step in their long term cooperation agreement. The aircraft, renamed as NC212, will be offered to both civil and military customers and will be a highly competitive offer in the market segment of light aircraft, being equipped with new digital avionics and autopilot systems. It will also have a new civil interior for up to 28 passengers compared to the current 25, increasing its cost efficiency significantly. The NC212 will be EASA and FAA FAR 25 certified.

France and Norway Offer Military Equipment to Malaysia

FRANCE and Norway yesterday offered to supply Malaysia with military equipment as a means of enhancing trade relations.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said French President Francois Hollande raised the issue of supplying Rafale jet-fighters and combat helicopters for the Royal Malaysian Air Force's multirole combat aircraft programme during their discussion.

Indonesia Ordered 36 Astros II Rocket Systems

TSAMTO - Brazil's "Avibras Industria Aerospacial" signed a contract to supply Indonesia with two batteries MRLS "Astros-2” (ASTROS - Artillery Saturation Rocket System).

According to "Jane's Defence Weekly" in the exhibition held in Jakarta "IndoDefence 2012" representative "Avibras", an agreement was signed with the Ministry of Defense of Indonesia "recently" and provides for the production and supply of two batteries, "Astros" as well as the transfer of technology and their service Indonesian repair industry. Earlier, Indonesian online media reported that one of the MLRS "Astros-2" version Mk.6 was demonstrated during the past 5 October in Jakarta military parade.

The origin of a shipment of about 100 tanks and 40 armoured personnel carriers that arrived at Sihanoukville port on Tuesday remains unknown, despite the Minister of Defence confirming the government purchased the vehicles to strengthen its military.

Japan Proposed Indonesia Amphibians

Japan's defense ministry offered Indonesia ShinMaywa amphibians US-2, according to Jane's. According to the company Eiiti Negisi (Eiichi Negishi), interested in the Indonesian military aircraft.
