South China Sea Strategies for other nations (Not China)

You might not like it, US might not like it, even PRC might not like. But since China started changing satus-quo in SCS there's not much for the others to do than take part in it. Whether they like it or not.

Well that's the thing isn't it.. conflict or disagreements typically occur when there is a change in status quo and the relevant parties involve either refuse to accept the change or fight to retain current state of affairs.

One of the promises Trump made was to fix up Americas own crumbling infrastructure which would in turn be a boon for her own construction companies/manufacturers and for anyone else who would care to participate

Yeah but infrastructures would required a lot of Chinese made steel, parts, construction blue prints services, architectural services, civil services, large size printing papers, machines, concrete materials, rubbers, construction equipment of all kinds, etc.o_O

Possibly, However, Caterpillar is still the worlds biggest construction machinery producer. and it can make up the shortfall from Japan, Sweden, and Germany.
With cement ,and they wanted to avoid China there are alternate such as India and Canada until she ramps up production. A world wide glut in steel does leave her some options.

Why??
US has a large steel production industry, paper mill industry, they are master of creating blue prints, architecture, they have more know how in building industrial machinery, and various healthy material processing industries as well.
Basically PRC don't export those to the US in the first place.

If the US didn't mismanage or bake in its own hostile ulterior motives in the "status quo" perhaps China wouldn't be looking to change it. The US and other colonial powers have been upsetting the "status quo" ever since they first invaded various parts of Asia.

We do export lots of scrap iron to China, at one time I made a little money around the farm hauling of junk machinery, old steel posts, even rusty old baling wire, and taking it to the "scrappers", it was selling for over 200 US dollars a ton.

Made some nice spending money when I was unemployed thanks to Obamacare.

prices on the scrap have come way down, now as China has curtailed some production in industry, as the US economy went down the "krapper". LOL

Yeah but not enough and a lot more costly to produce them as for steel product.

"Master of creating blue prints a architecture"? Apparently you are not the field to understand that China leads the world in both design build and building. Many architecture and engineering companies around the world out source their rendering and cad drawings to China.

The PRC are ahead in the infrastructure of building and machineries for high altitude and mountainous places.

I thought it was strange, the sudden reversal to allow the US to build and honor the agreement. I wonder what happened. Definitely some political intrigue here.

Caterpillar is suffering from profit losses and is planning to restructure in 2017. Not even Japan, Sweden, and Germany demands could even save them.

Caterpillars problems arise from a lack of demand.Major infrastructure work using Catterpillar machinery should go some ways in effecting a turn around for the Companyand prevent anymore workers being laid off.
What I mean't was Japan Sweden and Germany could also supply construction machinery. eg Hitachi made big Betha, the worlds biggest tunnel borer was used for the Seattle tunnel.
I would not under estimate America's ability to fix her own infrastructure if the will was there.
