Interesting...both Huitong and Henri K. are reporting that the SHENGAD (yes, I will continue to use that name) was developed from the earlier SAC JH-XX project. This is a bit of a surprise as the JH-XX - as originally designed in model form - is a much larger aircraft that what SAC has flown on Dec. 22. Of course, if the SAC airframe turns out to be an UCAV it would explain things.

From Huitong's blog:
During the 2000s a medium size/medium range supersonic stealth fighter bomber concept (JH-XX? Project 176?) was studied by the 601 Institute. It featured a tailless swept wing design with a twin seat cockpit. A mock-up (head section?) was constructed at SAC during 2013. A recent rumor (August 2022) suggested that the JH-XX project might have progressed into the prototype manufacturing stage at SAC. The latest images suggested that another new 6th generation fighter prototype besides J-36 (see above) flew for the first time on December 22, 2024 over the sky of Shenyang.
From Henri K.'s X (translated from French):
Apart from the 36011 demonstrator, which made its maiden flight in Chengdu, another new-generation demonstrator is also said to have taken off on December 22 at #Shenyang in the north of the country.

Comparable in size to a Su-27, this aircraft is said to be the result of a fighter-bomber project developed by the 601 Institute, launched in the 2000s.

If accurate, the JH-XX program is likely cancelled and absorbed into the role of this "6th-gen" platform.

Also, a new video/photo of the airframe just dropped.

Also, I can't see the folding tail in this photo which mean this is a tailless UCAV.

The real SHENGAD probably looks like this with wings and tails similar to JH-XX

SHENGAD looks quite similar to a SAC fighter logo that was assumed to relate to the JH-XX program. There are some slight differences but consider:

I remain unconvinced that this is a UCAV rather than the manned fighter component of Shenyang's half of the program.

The newest photo is too unclear to make out any definitive folding control surfaces or lack thereof.
However, the following photos do suggest that at least something is capable of being tucked away.

just as I was smug about the CHAD resembling the JH-XX, here you go destroying my dreams with the revelation that it is actually the SAD that is descended from JH-XX.

Other than for size, I'm not sure how you could juxtapose the CHENGAD with the JH-XX. The two have completely different wing geometries and planform shape.

However, it is entirely possible that elements of the JH-XX program made their way into the CHENGAD.

It is not surprising that CHENGAD was developed by CAC, because the removal of the vertical stabilizer will bring huge challenges to flight performance, CAC obviously has more experience in flight control than SAC.
