Shouldn't there be a more safe and faster way to transport something like this? Like by train or something? It seems kind of crazy transporting a plane via truck.

It cannot be transported via train because of tunnel size restriction, since the wings cannot be removed (just like the F35) and there is no direct waterway leading to Xi'an from Shenyang, transport it via truck is the only way.

Can we assume that this thing is also being tracked by satellite in real time, just to be safe?

No need, when you have all the passing cities and provinces' police and PAP notified of this convey, PLAAF can probably get real time image of the truck via the chasing police cars' cameras, or they can get the traffic camera feed since all those expressways are fully covered by cameras.

Contrary to the stereotype we've seen plenty of military hardware all the way to a supposed DF-41 rolling on the roads in public being transported. This is a first where you actually seen the security in the pic.
No kidding, most other military equipment we saw in the public are without escorts, that's why PLA tanks and armored vehicles kept on crashing with civilian cars. The convey probably represents the highest level of security PLA employed on public roads so far.

This new plane is probably a twin-engined and stealthed evolution of the JF-17 if I am to guess at its heritage.

I wouldn't be surprised if China has multiple special ops units ready to respond if something happened to it, on top of monitoring it 24/7.

FC1 is a CAC product while this one is a SAC product, the chance that it has anything to do with FC1 is slim to none.

Something puzzling. If the wings are located so far aft as it looks to be in the pictures, wouldn't it be too near to the tail horizontal stabilizers. And if the model is to have canards instead (assuming they're to be installed later like the tail stabilizers), it would then go against the norm of SAC of never doing canards, at least for so far until now.

Looks like the wing tips barely clear the edge of the 3 lanes road, no wonder it is tilted.

Also, the left wing could be purposely tilted higher to clear the sidewalks or road sides. ;) Questions is would they transport the frame the same way if it is meant for flight testing.

Oh, I missed that.
