No one is quite sure the reason but having the eagle instead of the PLAAF insignia is what makes us suspect this plane is a privately funded project and not a PLAAF funded project.

What "elite Chinese fighter squadron" are you talking about? What's with your insatiable interest in a hypothetical unit?
More likely for anyone (else but China Airforce or China Navy at this point of time anyway) who might be interested in funding it.
