Basic Mig29 has two engines and not huge internal fuel space. F16 has one engine and also not huge internal fuel space. That is why you will see f16 pretty much all the time with fueltank(s). Both have hardly reach without those fueltanks. And if you have two of these engines then you need often a lot more fuel... It is not that the engines are far less efficient.

I did not say fuel is not efficient used. I said during certain throttle changes the fuel is not fully burned. You either want fast spool time or better fuel flow. Maybe you should try to understand the basic about mass flow, fuel burning temperature, gearbox and fuelpumps...

I have no clue why you want to say what I did not say. Frankly I am not even interested anymore.

Heh, Heh, heh, maybe a tribute to LockMart and Pratt & Whitney? [didn't those guys invent the steam powered cotton gin?], it really does look like the Pratt and Whitney Eagle don't it, OK I'm SORRY! I KNOW I shouldn'ta oughta said it? I'm stepping on my own toes right now, OUCH! any way I'm sticking to my PLAN theory, I still think the J-31 needs some better power plants, but if AVIC is claiming a mach 1.8 top end? I could be all wet? I really hope not? export only, how dissapointing would that be, but I will take the first one! I like this little bird, kinda reminds me of the poor little XP-530 prototype that Northrupp floated so long ago, but later became the YF-17---F-18, which is a winner by the way, and was scaled up to become the Super Bug, all to prove that sometimes good guys do come out ahead! Cheers AFB

I do believe that the J-31 prototype is of a platform, which may have a couple of derivatives, such as one for the Navy, one for export, and who knows maybe even one for the Airforce... The question is: Which one comes first? Every potential buyer is watching. That's why I said it was for everyone who's got the money for it or its development.

The last pic would make an excellent wall paper on my laptop computer.

Agreed, and if I didn't have a fully polished P-40c Long Nose on mine I would do that, but I have the most gorgeous P-40c on my wall that you have ever seen, Steve Hinton from Planes of Fame? at Chino was flying it , but it is the long nose with the longer gear case on the front of the Allison, any way, at first glance I thought that must be an early Mustang as they also had the Allison V-12 in the A model, but after I looked a minute I thought heyyyyy! thats a P-40, and I haven't thought a P-40 was gorgeous my entire life, even though as a lad I loved the flying Tigers, any way it was restored by fighter restorations? it is going to jolly OLDE ENGLAND, and may already be there, Swweeeet! I'm hoping Shenyang will send me the J-31 prototype when they"re through with it? HINT! HINT! AFB
