A to Z, I don`t think PLAAF need so many sub-models, as they don`t publish a big dictionary which need to contain so many words.

Don't know why JDW calls it "Shen Fei" (Falcon Eagle). It should be pronounced as "Hu Yin."
Just a guess: ShenFei is the simplified name for SAC in Chinese. Either that is what the project was called initially or it's an editing mistake by JDW.

SAC has developed other fighters such as J-11 and J-15 at least. If project 310 carries SAC's namesake, it must be a project which cannot be failed. Will leaders of SAC put so much in bet, especially for Chinese? ^^;

No one has ever heard of the J31 being referred to as 'Shen Fei' before, and I am really struggling to think of any combination of accents with those two words that could translate to anything like "Falcon Eagle" in Chinese.

Far more likely JDW just had a cockup and somehow thought the name of the maker was the name of the fighter. So someone at JDW might have read something along the lines of 'Sheng Fei project 310 first flew today' and thought that was the name of the fighter. But even so, it should be 'Sheng Fei' surely.

It would not surprise me at all if JDW does not employ anyone who speaks Chinese, and as such, a mistake like the one above could be more possible, especially if they were feeding original Chinese text into an automated translation programme. It is still shockingly unprofessional and inept, but somehow seems fitting of their general standards when it comes to reporting on Chinese projects. If they have someone who knows Chinese on the payroll, then there really can be no excuse for such a blunder.
