All we know is that it is an XAC project with caret or dsi intakes and an internal weapons bay. We need to know what engines it has and if it has a single vertical stabilizer

On the contrary the internal weapons bay is not a given, going by huitong. Like I said, this can go two ways, with the aircraft being a stealthified JH-7, lacking internal weapon bays, without major redesign -- or a wholly new aircraft that is a real 5th generation striker.

Doesn't the model have internal weapons bays?

Yes but I'm not quite confident enough to rule out the idea of a "lesser" JH-7B just yet, though I do think there wouldn't be much logic in developing such an aircraft based off a relatively obsolete platform.

Not sure about that -- J-19 will definitely be flying late this year or early next but we have nothing on this JH-7B or JH-XX... I don't think there is anything to suggest it is a SAC/XAC project as of yet, and it sounds like SAC still has their J-19, J-16 and possibly even J-17 still going. But we are definitely in for an interesting few years. I don't think anyone before 2010 would have dared to say china could have multiple stealth aircraft programs going on at the same time.

I also agree that model is probably showing JH-7B, or at least a project by XAC. You can see a model of H-6K in the background...

Hmmm remember this pic?:

Do you think this pic and yours may be showing the same plane model?

You could probably stick two WS-10s in the JH-7 airframe. WS-10 is smaller, lighter, and more powerful than WS-9

What's wrong with that...? Clearly there are two trains of thought to the JH-7B at the moment -- one is that it is merely a slightly stealthified JH-7, the other is that it is an entirely new aircraft only given a "B" designation.

The models we've seen point to the latter.

the old man in the photo is retired.

this is from 2005ish time frame.

if Shenyang did have a new program (I hope they don't, waste of money and time for a inferior product)
would be a recycled version of their 2005 failed entry, which it self is recycled from the "90s series" designs they did way back when...

Shenyang still in the game just because upper management in AVIC and all the civilian top brass came from Shenyang, and there is a big dose of nepotism going on. I really really really despise that.

I really despise this too but I do not understand why some U.S. companys also allow upper management to employ so many relatives in the same company. This makes the company less competive and in inefficient operation.
The AVIC can only support developing prototypes. If the plane is too bad to be accepted by the PLAAF, It means nothing.
