Everything. My dad always loves at how the benefits here are way too much and turns people into leeches.
It's not really an issue of taxes, though, since we have higher taxes than other states. And we are a donor state. But California is one of the states to have gotten really hit by the housing crash last year, and even before that since so many are actually leaving the state for cheaper houses in states like Arizona.

The nail that really hit the coffin is the fact that we haven't had a budget for some 2 years and Arnold here just wouldn't sign a single bill from the House. I seriously don't know wtf we are doing..... No way I am voting for Arnold or Pelosi in the future (Not that I have ever been able to do anything in the past.)

And oh yes, did I mention that we wasted some more money by having a special election that nobody went to?

Can't wait to see California turn into Chad. The freeways are going to turn into mush. The speeders and the drug traffickers and the shooters and the State Parks... I am not sure how stuff work at the county level, but my guess is best to stay within city limits.... although city governments get a lot of cash input from the state.....

Sign something, Arnold. Waste the dam tax if you must, for 2 months, w/e...

Think you got problems We've just been visited by George Friedman of Stratfour.... He.thinks New Zealand’s economic security is at ongoing risk because of a deliberate decision by New Zealanders to alienate themselves from more powerful countries – in particular, the United States. my overall interpretation on his interview about NZ is that we are a bunch of bludgers a dollar short and a day late. ( gotta leave it at that) annoying but ill say he's half right anyway.:(

How about that, Here I was thinking that it was a universal date like Xmas. At least you get something popeye, I get zip, maybe a hopeful request for a loan.
I remember about this time a few yrs ago, a returning daughter asked for a loan so she could buy a car,her excuse was, the Aussie exchange rate was against her, here I was thinking Doctors were well paid, and I could scrounge a little bit of her, but nope. Still she gave me the car when she went back to Aus a couple yrs later, she reckoned the residual value was about what she owed me. Only thing I hate these low down to door cars, 4wheel steering as well, more to go wrong

I once had this theory that if one had a dozen or more children, then you could get them to give you $20 a week each to go towards ones retirement fund, when they started working. Sweet if had worked

Dude, not on Father's Day! Mention those sites on Labour Day or something, but not Father's Day! For celebration, not creation, man!

Anybody know of a site or are involved in currency trading?

I dabbled in many yrs ago when I was buying forward, when I was exporting, however my most lucrative period came when acting on behalf of friends in Japan. I would lend money to my bank for overnight settling, during the 80's and the bank use to pay me anything between 20% to 60% for a minimum of $200,000 but they preferred half a mil and better.. That was when the standard deposit rate at the bank was around 15%. Those same friends were getting the money off the Japanese banks for very little interest. I think in banking circles it was known as the carry trade or something like that.

Re: Casual talk...Have fun!

After reading an article in the local newspaper on how to cope with hard times, I put one of the recommendations to the test when I went to see the Transformer Movie. The assertion was that many people eating at food-courts , don't often touch all the food they buy. So the advice was to put a apron on and make out you're one of the cleaning staff and then swoop on anything half decent that was left behind.
Sure enough the giver of that advice was correct, in the short time I hung around the food-court, there was about three untouched plates of things I could have made off with, but no I didn't take them if you were wondering.

True enough..My wife is always quick to point out all the food that is wasted in mall food courts and restaurants. In the US one reason so much food is wasted in restaurants is the enormous portion size in our restaurants.

I'll tell you one way to cope with the hard time: move to Texas! Here, we never have a housing bubble and economy is booming. Well, I was exaggerating a little about that "booming economy" thing, but it is much better than anywhere else. :D
