some true bitterness here from Ursula about China cutting dependence on the world (world defined as western countries) while increasing world's dependence on China
As I said in the economics thread, the green H2 movement is bringing a lot of needed Chinese techs to MENA region. Europe will be dependent on middle east for future energy needs and MENA will depend on Chinese expertise to build these renewable/hydrogen bases

Not surprised to see this, but I think the important part is to make central Asian countries entirely reliant on BRI for commerce. That yields tremendous power. In the future, these countries will also rely on Chinese tech for energy transition and have other Chinese factories

definitely some strong relationship vibes in these photos

Would love a common energy market/grid-connection between China + Central Asia (+ Russia eventually) in the medium term

Given China's strength in infrastructure building, this could immediately strengthen them economically

For EU, I think china should maintain close ties with Greece so Greece can veto any proposed anti china action on EU.
Here's the thing though, they're essentially the lapdog of every main geopolitical player, i.e. the US, EU & China.

They're in a amity with Italy and they're not challanged by their weaker Northern and Southern neighbours; this means that the only threat for them is (unnecessarily on their part) Turkey.

Their leadership has always seen themselves as equivalent to Turkey in terms of geopolitical reach even though they're not in the same league whatsoever.

Due to a huge difference in geography, size and resources; they actually need support from the US and the EU to bark at Turkey. But since their economic future seems poor, they need the financial support of the EU and the investment of China to prevent a future economic disaster that is on the horizon.

But here's the catch. Countries are like the average human beings they rule over. When they feel existentially threatened or are in need for security, they don't care about anything else as we've seen recently with Sweden and Finland.

Anyone who follows the developments in the region can see that as Turkish industrial and military capabilities grow, the Greeks will need even more support from the US and that may more than likely result in them being preassured over to choose the US-led camp over ties with China.

The thing is US is now choosing turkey to confront with Russia and china, like how they do with India. Do you Remember US just throw east med pipeline out in favor of turkey? Because Turkey is EU problems, not US.
Greece seems like to be Pakistan of Europe, so china should treat Greece like Pakistan.

I would not be surprised if the EU goes the way of the USSR.

You have no idea regarding East Med politics at all, do you? It's actually the quite opposite, Turkey and the US are undeclared rivals in the region. The US has tried to balance the power equation between Gre & Turkey for 5 decades now but as Turkey has increased its influence and capabilities, Americans have increasingly started to arm the Greeks.

The biggest issue between both countries is that the US has openly formed an alliance with a terrorist group against Turkey that even they themselves designate as terrorists.

Turkey is most likely the most sanctioned country on earth after Russia-China-N.Korea and Iran. And mind you they are supposed to be allies with Turkey.

Turkey and the US are only allies on paper. Had Turkey not been in the NATO alliance, the Us would have armed and encouraged the Greeks for a conflict against Turkey and also would have openly tried to split the country in two.

What I said about Greece still stands so I don't feel a need to contribute more to that.
