I think at the moment, there is no appetite in America for a war with Iran. This kind of stuff takes year of media coverage to build up.

anyhow just thought I'd point this out here.

Lula's trip has been delayed, but the overall trajectory of China/Brazil relationship shouldn't change. Brazil is looking to China to help build their 21st century industries.

It's been well known that BYD plant in Brazil was one of the key items that Lula wanted to discuss about

And looks like they are also looking to China for renewable transition

My interest was particularly piqued by this article

Brazil wants China's help to build their hydrogen supply chain
All of this is great since Brazil using Chinese expertise means they will be using Chinese renewable systems. That's the key for these JVs and investments. To get countries around the world to work with you and to depend on your technology rather than European ones for example.

Lula also looking to develop Brazil's semiconductor industry with China's help

So this is how China must deal with other global south countries. Show willingness to share technology and to help build their local economy. Bring advanced tech, Huawei stuff, renewable energy development and these things in exchange for closer relationship, import of raw materials, RMB usage & long term dependence of China.

More cooperation with Saudi Arabia. Having trouble with archive right now, so I will just post blurbs

The refining complex will include 300,000 barrels-a-day refinery and 1.65 million tons steam cracker and Aramco will supply up to 210,000 barrels per day of crude oil feedstock to the project.
Aramco said construction is due to start in the second quarter and it expects the project to be fully operational by 2026. Aramco will own 30%, Norinco Group 51% through its subsidiary North Huajin Chemical, and Panjin Xincheng 19% of the joint venture.

The Saudi company is also partnering with

in Saudi Arabia with a lower carbon footprint, he said. The company also signed a letter of intent to be part of a new

being created by Renault SA and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. amid efforts to develop more efficient and lower-emission engines and hybrid systems, he said.
To me, this is more than just a refinery. Aramco is increasing its production and it wants to find stable partners to take its product and is getting more into chemical industry and China's market with local Chinese partners. It also not doubt has relationship with NORINCO for military stuff.

Aside from that, it's also getting help from China to build other industries in Saudi Arabia. Aside from Brazil, this is another nation looking for China's help in modern economy.

China's influence in GCC countries continue to grow

notable phone call with MBS after the recent refinery news. I see twitter reporting that more deals are coming later this year

It was MBZ that pushed through this first foreign LNG trade on SHPGX. Again, UAE has been buying more Chinese weapons

China continues to be the winner of Saudi/Iran peace and will continue to push this along I would imagine.

just the fact that Saudis were originally willing to work out peace with Iran points to weakening of American influence in the region and America has only since started to withdraw more troops from there.

Would be interesting if China plays a security role in the Saudi Arabia/Yemen pact.

I'm not saying China needs to put troops in the middle east, but it should be selling more weapons and provide training/assistance to Saudi Arabia.

Given what has happened this week, I wouldn't be surprised by news of Saudi applying to join SCO, but I haven't seen it anywhere yet
If Saudis join SCO, then they are willing to be on the record that they are in the China camp. Then, I think Petroyuan is a foregone conclusion.

It lists here all the investments that Saudis have made to China recently. This is not a blip. Saudi sovereign wealth fund takes orders from all the way up top. They are getting told to invest in China like they used to get told to invest in the West.

Anyways, let's wait and see more deals signed. I don't think these Xi/MBS calls should be dismissed. They are probably quite important.
