Not really. Marcos took months to go to Beijing. This guy is apparently going to Beijing 3 days after taking power. This is after Vietnam leadership has been sending premier or president to Beijing every few months over past 2 years. And with Chinese businesses controlling most of the factories in northern Vietnam. Vietnam at this point is chasing China for ever more economic integration.

Not everything is about Philippines. Philippines is getting left in the dust by every other ASEAN country engaging China.
I think the rumor that To Lam going to Beijing right after is a special case and should not be analyzed in economics term. This guy just coup his way to the top of the Communist Party of Vietnam in less than a year. To Lam needs to reassure Beijing everything is ok, after almost half of the poliburo has been purged in the last year.

Chinese people would probably press X to doubt.

and why does he need to go to Beijing so soon but not other countries? Basically for Vietnam, you have this rabid anti-China fervor among certain part of population (especially in the south) for a long time. But it appears like for now, the leadership has realized that their way forward is aligning with China and that's why new leaders needs to make sure to come to China.

And it's quite likely that Vietnam leadership are concerned about pro-Western faction and wants to make sure they can rely on Chinese backing. Regardless, you'd rather be in this position than if the southern faction comes back to power.

arctic sea route is happening for container ships now. Before, this was mostly tankers. I think they are still trying this out, but it certainly speeds things up big time.

The recent plan deployment to Tanzania is getting a lot of coverage. Looks like they are going to Mozambique next. It will be interesting to see how much influence China can have over African countries in the future through these continued military cooperations.

I wonder if whoever gets installed will be more pro-China, since the army buys mostly Chinese weapons.

looks like the Indians are panicking

Definitely a pro for China. She was ridiculously pro-India, more like a puppet if I may say

I will not count my chickens before they hatch. She still tried to balance with China and sort of maintained a semblance of stability.

No amount of pro Chinese sentiment is useful if your country is not stable or predictable.

Ask Pakistan.

I believe China will gain from this since automatically India is the primary loser here. But if US gains massive leverage over Bangladesh as some quarters are saying , and by extension over India since chicken neck, India's eastern provinces and indeed it's missile testing grounds all border Bangladesh and India will be massive paranoid now. So india might get bent to US more then necessary, which again will not be that good in the grand scheme of things
