Isn't that CEO (Robin Sampson of Clyde Space) exaggerating?

I like the notion of buying the components on the internet and building the satellite at home. There is just the small matter of building a clean room for the building activity.

Interesting thoughts of how Scottish independence would effect the arts and film sector.

A independent Scotland would likely be grandfathered in to NATO and would start out compliant with all Nato norms... Except maybe there small arms. The British government spec 5.56x45mm used in the L85 rifle tend to be under powered vs true NATO spec.

Scotland does not want to join the NATO. This is one of the reasons why it wants to get an independent from the UK which has actively and massively involved in NATO led conflicts.

it would be interesting what an independent Scottish military will look like. it would be small but would it follow the UK military in fighting all over the world with the US?

No, as i have mentioned above.

or would it choose to be like a Switzerland and be wise to stay out of other peoples war

Yes, it's foreign policy would be similar to Switzerland's. Scottish people do not appreciate the fact that Trident D5 nuclear systems are placed in the Scottish water.

Scotland gets billions in subsides from England check read up on the Scottish farmers how much subsides they receive every year also our academic institutes get funding from all English grants we loose a lot of income from England if we go independent, will oil revenues cover the lot? Maybe for a short time but not the long term

North Sea oil revenues are shrinking as we know it, and another problem with Scotland is that it has much bigger ageing population who live on welfares, pensions and other various supports from the government. As it has lower working age population, i doubt the Scottish government would receive sufficient money from tax, national insurance, and others. Moreover, Scotland is a less attractive country, therefore it doesn't get enough young immigrants from other countries as it needs. Even the university students and young professionals from Scotland are flocking to London everyday in order to seek a better life. So, it is quite risky for an independent Scotland in the long term too.

Scotland would like to stay in NATO but if they have to leave they will they want to stay in EU but will have to apply for membership they are not going to any preferential treatment nor do we want to be treated that like anyway

‘Impossible’ for Scotland to join EU, says José Manuel Barroso, European Commission president

AN INDEPENDENT Scotland could find it “impossible” to become a member of the European Union, the president of the European Commission has warned.

Listen to EU.

Only problem with joining the EU it takes only one country to say no and country's like Spain who are already weary of their own independent states proclaiming referendums like Granada etc will certainly not want to allow Scotland into the EU if it becomes independent

I concur.

Do they even have a plan A? lol

There is no plan B, C, D, or E, but the plan A is to become and independent Scotland and keep the £ (that belongs to the UK) as national currency LOL.

The leader of this Scottish Nationalist Party is such an embarrassment for not only Scotland, but the Scottish people who are fond of him. I wonder how he is going to lead his country when he can't even come up with very basic plans for the future of his country. First off, Scotland does not have it's own Scottish central bank as the UK has. In the emergency situation, the Scottish companies and banks would be in serious troubles as they would not be able to get the bailouts from their own central bank. BAE Systems has already warned that the shipbuilding yards in Scotland would be closed if they voted yes, and even the Royal Bank of Scotland is considering to relocate it's HQ in London. It is surprising that although he has been explained countless times about the currency union and how it works, he still wants to keep the common currency "£" as the national currency of the independent Scotland. It is not really an independent innit? The same term applies to the Eurozone members too.

That's not a plan though, that's just the goal. A plan would involve details of how they would go about doing that.

I agree and Alex Salmond aside who really is bad PR let's look at this

I don't really buy this whole currency thing it's very typical of England to keep threatening Scotland by saying "you can't afford independence you can't afford this you can't afford that" put it this way if Scotland can't afford independence then no country in the world can afford independence

I am not in favour of SNP or Alex Salmond but question is this why keep asking us if we can afford independence can England afford to losses Scotland?? Look at the £ it's linked to the oil $ if Scotland goes independence then the English £ will also losse a few % meaning all the interest rates and taxation will be effected can England afford that?

If tiny little Gibraltar can afford its own £ then why can't Scotland

Scotland is strong it's got a history it's got a track record in Science and Technology and inventions the list is endless and we are still doing it

And I disagree on your work figures About 600,000 Scots work in England but 400,000 English also work and live in Scotland it's by no means a one way street

You have to see past Alex Salomd If England keeps threatening Scotland with this European membership, the pensions the £ and rest of the things the Scottish nature is just simpy to rebel and show the middle finger

England is playing like a immature child "oh you can't have the £ that's ours"

When a couple divorce both sides looses out not just one if one side keeps saying you can't leave cus your too poor or can't afford then definitely some people will vote yes just to show the England back it's a dangerous game Mr Darling is playing
