@escobar In some cases, early in the war, the Russians showed drone footage of Ukrainians using those said hospitals or schools as vantage points for snipers. So that makes them a valid military target. Israel bombs similar buildings all the time in the Gaza strip as well. They bomb public services that is. Which they claim are Hamas weapon storage depots or headquarters.

As for the Russian "crude approach" to electronic warfare. Since the Russians do not depend on GPS since they use GLONASS of course they can just blanket jam GPS and not care. Since Israel needs to use GPS in its own military assets they cannot.

As for the Russian "problems" with target acquisition or operational tempo I have seen no actual evidence of that. If Russia was acting like Israel does in Syria, they would just hide behind the border and shoot long range missiles all the time. Now, that might work against stationary targets, but good luck doing that against mobiles ones. There are just too many targets in Ukraine to waste money on smart weapons like those to destroy all of them. Granted the Russians still seem to have some issues with sensors and standoff munitions. Not good enough sensors nor enough standoff munitions launched by smaller fighter bomber aircraft. Not enough drones. Still not good enough interoperation between units in the ground and in the air. But the thing is, that is also a matter of doctrine. They have the attack helicopters and Frogfoot for something. Perhaps once the Su-75 comes out you will see more instances of missiles like the Kh-38 being ordered. The amount of drones in their force structure is also increasing. But right now their force structure was optimized for fights against NATO. In an environment where it would be hard for the Russian Air Force to operate, the strategy is more to use cruise missile strikes at standoff distances. And the Russian aviation is supposed to be mostly defensive or counterattacking inside your IADS bubble. That has always been the way for the Russian aviation to fight. They only do long distance raids outside of ground they are contesting in rare cases. Because NATO will always have more aircraft.

Especially in an IADS rich environment like in Ukraine, going on wild goose chases with air force over ground you do not control is just a fancy way of losing pilots to the enemy.

As it highighted by few source, int the Soviet Union the schools , kindergartens was considered as important civil defense points, so all of them was built with thick walls and ceilings, capable to withstand significant explosions.

Means in several areas the most fortified objects are the schools and kindergartens , means all Azov and similar guys settle in those points.

So, the Russians shoot the shcools because the ukrainan military using them as base. If we consider that in the CCCP the schools and kindergartens was in the middle of the living areas we could see that the Ukrainan / Azov side comit war crimes.

The work of the Russian portable ground reconnaissance radar "Fara-VR" in combat conditions in Mariupol. The video shows how the operator on the remote control marks the targets and directs the tankers and the crew of the BMP at him, who alternately fire at the targets. The radar is intended for reconnaissance of moving ground targets and transmission of target designation. Detected targets are displayed on the screen, you can even notice when a person just leaned out of the window. The "Fara-VR" station is able to detect a moving truck at a distance of up to 10 kilometers, a tank up to 8 and a person at a distance of up to 4 kilometers. The complex is capable of scanning the area itself and aiming automatic small arms and grenade launchers at the target. The mass of the portable reconnaissance radar station "Fara-VR" is 12 kilograms, you can install and start working in just 3 minutes. The time of continuous operation of the radar from a set of standard batteries is 12 hours.

The newest 2021 Russian bouncing anti-tank mines PTKM-1R appeared in Ukraine. The mine is designed to destroy armored vehicles in the upper hemisphere. When the target approaches 50 m, the seismic sensor of the mine issues a command to shoot the combat element. The combat element moves along a ballistic trajectory, its sensors, thermal and radar, begin to scan the earth's surface. After detecting the target, the warhead is undermined and hits enemy equipment from above in the most vulnerable parts - the roof, turret and hull. Mines weight 20 kg
