So thermal insulation? What happens if it gets wet. Also I note half the tank is uncovered. It doesn't take much to get a IR lock and 1,400 bhp tank engines put out a lot of heat.

Hard to see what I'm looking at there. Is that white block to the left not the tank? How long has the tank engine been running?

I'm guessing something with very low emissivity (probably at a specific band tailored to IR sensor). Yeah if it gets wet the thing radiates at the emissivity of water, but then again water evaporates fast on a warm tank

Still, I'd like to confirm there is no trickery in that picture before saying anything, like we're not seeing a actually cold tank on the left...

When Russia’s invasion of Ukraine became bogged down, Israeli analysts realised that Russian ground forces were afflicted by many of the same problems.
