Re: PLAN Type 052C/052D Class Destroyers

If the Slava had Tico's or Burk's sensors, she'd be even more scary.

Trust me they are imposing as it is. I believe all of them now possibly carries the P1000 Vulkan whick makes them an even more serious threat to all ships including carriers.
One of those giants hits you and it's a guaranteed mission kill. Anything smaller than a full size destroyer will most certainly be sunk not long after impact or from fire.. Anything smaller than a frigate will be catastrophic and very likely result in the loss of all lives on board.

Re: PLAN Type 052C/052D Class Destroyers

Anyone got a video of a launch of one of those missiles?
Here's a couple of pics. One from the bridge and one from the bow. These are P-500s (SS-N-12) I believe.

Or, you can watch the launch beginning at about the 33 second mark in this video:

If they upgraded to the P-1000, then they have even longer range.

Tell me if you want to see submarine launches, though (I'm saying this because it's off-topic in
PLAN Type 052C/052D Class Destroyers thread :)

Big big missile it's got two boasters wow!

I would like to see the following

A Kirov Class battlecruiser sailing along with a Slava Class cruiser backed up by a few DDG that would be a powerful Russian surface action group

Well, the 20 SS-N-19, P-700 Shipwreck missiles the Kirov class has are even larger.

On this video at 1:35 you can see one of them launched from the VLS forward on the ship.

Later in that video you can see the other VLS cells forward launching the Grumble air-to-air missiles too from their 6 round revolver VLS cells.

The Kriov and Slava class cruisers often sail together...particularly when escorting the Juznetsov:

Gives you a good idea of the size. The Admrial Ustinov 055, the Slava class cruiser on the right, is a big ship. 12.500 tons full load. She dwarves a typical destroyer like the Tyoe 052C/Ds or the Type 45 Darings.

But the Pyotr Velikiy 099 on the left, the Kirov class nuclear powered cruiser, displaces over twice as much as the Slave cruiser. BIG ship!

I would imagine they also sail in a SAG together on occassion. I will look for some pics of that.
