From our Malaysian air force's experience in purchasing MIG-29N and SU-30MKM, at a relatively cheap unit prices, ended up spending more money in long term, because of expensive replacement parts and after-sale services from the Russian manufacturers.

We also bought FA-18D at higher prices but ended up with spending less in long term.

I think the Russians are applying the same marketing strategy by selling this "Checkmate" cheap, but will charge replacement parts and after-sales services at high prices.

This video presentation is poor, seems to be a slideshow. I understand basic Russian but finding it difficult to keep up.

Same thing happened to the Indians and the aircraft carrier they bought from Russia. They were quoted one price but in the end had to pay several times that.

Though MiG-29 and Flankers of any kind have never been cheap to operate, though, as far as I am aware.

There is also the fact that Russian are far more limited when it comes to spares availability and tech support network which probably complicates things.

That's on them for buying a mothballed aircraft cruiser for conversion into a full flattop. In no-one's sane mind such a conversion made sense over a new build, except for the Indian MOD

Possibly a mig-29/35 alternative.

How many units would you need to buy to get that price?

If its true it's a lot of aircraft for your money. It would kill the single engine market overnight.
Im sure the price would stay the same however units would most likely be delivered slowly given Russia’s production output they’d have to decide between supplying their own air force or the export market. Additionally as stated before my another member the Russians usually undersell an aircraft just to have the importing nation agree to a lucrative supply and maintenance contract which generates more money in the long run. And with this being a “smart” aircraft I can foresee the amount of updated data packages and software that will be sold to importing countries.
