A historic decision
In May 2010 the Russian media published a statement from the Ministry of Defence of the country stating that the AK-12 would be presented the following year. The demonstration model, then called AK-200, was shown to the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during his visit to the plant for the manufacture of arms Izhmash (now called corporation Kalashnikov, on behalf of the designer who died in December 2013). During the demonstration, they could be several substantial modifications to the basic AK-74 standard, adopting and characteristics of the actual AK-12, including options Chargers with 60 cartridges.

It would be in September 2013 when the Vice President of the Military-Industrial Commission of Russia said the Russian army would begin receiving in 2014 the AK12 assault rifle into two different options, 5.45 and 7.62 mm caliber. This new rifle was put into service with new infantry weapons; including sniper rifles and light machine guns, in addition to standardize military assault rifles in a model with two calibres are. He also thought of a modernized AK-74 intended for civilian market, mainly for export to the United States, where the company has its largest market for civilian firearms. However, the June 16, 2014, President Barack Obama signed an executive order banning the import of Russian weapons fire in response to the Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

Last December 2014, the Russian Army announced that the AK 12 and its competitor the A-545, proposed by Degtyarev, had passed the assessment tests; whereby the executive decision rested with the ministry, to be operational expected the model chosen in March 2015.

However, in recent days has raised some controversy regarding the chosen weapon. According to some anonymous media, the Russian Army would prefer the A-545 on the AK-12, I abalado reasons including less recoil of 10-15% during shooting by the version proposed by Degtyarev against the Kalashnikov. Among the reasons given in favor of the AK-12, would those of a political nature to ensure the survival of the Kalashnikov Corporation against the veto of US imports and on the other hand, industrial nature relating to the production capacity of Degtyarev which would need to build a new plant to produce the quantities of weapons in the time required. These could be the final reasons have resulted in the decision to adopt the AK-12 rifle and assault game of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian next-generation T-14 Armata main battle tank, due to be unveiled at the Red Square Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9 will appear in public at an advance parade rehearsal, according to a source in the defense industry, Russian news site Lenta.Ru reported.

The latest rehearsal for what is planned to be the biggest Victory Day parade in Russia's recent history is scheduled for Friday, at 6:45 a.m., so it's possible that the Armata tank will appear as soon as this week.

However, the tank will appear in a camouflage that will distort it's silhouette and make it impossible to examine its exact configuration. The technique, practiced by car manufacturers to protect prospective models from espionage, will likely be adapted for the Armata. One existing technology to conceal a tank's shape is the Nakidka, developed by Moscow's Steel Research Institute, which also conceals a tank's thermal, infrared and radar signatures.

The Armata tank will reportedly feature a remotely controlled gun and fully automated loading, as well as a separate crew compartment made from composite materials and protected by multilayered armor.

The tank will go through state trials in 2016, and it is expected that by 2020, over 2,300 tanks on the Armata platform will be supplied to the military.

I don't understand, and never will :) the Russian "fashion" of using NATO code-names to call Russian armament (Backfire in this case) ... about five(?) years ago I read a rant in a Russian military journal about not only popular articles, but also professional articles recently, had used the designation AK-47 for, well, what we know as AK-47 :)
