Naval Today said:Krivak-class missile frigate “Ladny”, a part of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet, departed Sevastopol to join the Mediterranean Sea operations.
The vessel left the base today and is sailing toward the Black Sea straits.
Ladny is scheduled to join the Russian Navy’s Mediterranean Sea permanent task force, replacing the Yaroslav Mudry frigate.
This represents the vessel’s first deployment after it completed renovation and modernization works.
This is an old frigate, one of the original Krivak I class. It was launched in 1980.
It recently went through a fairly extensive refit and was modernized (not sure of the exact changes), and is now going to deploy permanently as a part of the Russian Mediterranean task force.
