Okay...I get that.
But your comment also indicated that those vessels themselves, even four of them, would not pose a threat to France or any other country.
I suppose you actually asked how they could pose a threat...which infers that they are not.
So I simply answered that question.

That would be a hard blow to Russia's military modernization. they would still have the Boomerang but thats a lightweight.

and Boomerang which is a 8x8 wheeled 15-20 ton vehicle. If they totally canceled Armata they would lose not just a successor to the T90 which arguably can be modernized but the BMP3M, which is a serious lightweight and down right anachronism compared to the Western and European offerings. Even long Time Users are now offering there own modernized takes. now for that the Russians still have options. the Uralvagonzavod ATOM for example tips the scales at 35 tons has very modern protection, The Gun system is quite potent it's internal crew of 3+8 is the same as BMP3 could fill all it's roles. but The Russians Would have to re engineer a version based heavily on Russian systems as the Current model uses a Swedish Engine and French systems.

upgrades could be done to the BREM-72Armoured recovery vehicle, MTU-90: Bridge layer tank, IMR-3: Combat engineer vehicle, BMR-3: Mine clearing vehicle, and TOS-1 MLRS. So it would not be a total lost but it would require a large amount of strategizing and procurement but still the heart of the Russian Combat fleet would be in the 1980's nother one that would be lagging is Russian SPH the current model uses a T80 Hull a T72 hull and a SA65 gun a relic from the Cold war.

Russia is a huge country that has to be prepared to defend itself not only in Europe but also in the Far East and perhaps act to the South. Remember that it was not able to prevent the subversion of Georgia which let to a war that was damaging to Russia and disastrous to Georgia. I understand that the then president of Georgia Saakashvili is now indicted for corruption.
Russia has about as much military power in Europe as France so is hardly strong enough to defend itself and is no threat to any European country.

To project power with Mistral-like ships you would either need air superiority , or opponent without ASuW capabilities . Potential opponents of Russia are either most powerful countries in the world (NATO) , or local forces with land borders with Russia . In either case, Mistrals are either useless or superfluous , funds could be better spend on other things . Mistral is essentially glorified helicopter barge, and Russia ordered in time they were thinking that they could be partners with the West , fight jointly against Somali pirates etc ... Especially, it was kind of reward for France for mediating between Russia and Georgia in 2008 . In a current climate, French refusal to hand down those ships is blessing in disguise, especially if they could get their money back .
