But this statistics does not tell the amount of public and private debt created or effectiveness of spending that translate into productivity activity. even useless activity can become part of it. for me the only correct measure of prosperity is the quantity of single family homes built per year.

But if Trump gets into the White House this year it is quite likely the trade war will further escalate. It is also possible the US will spark a conflict with China via proxy like they did with Russia in Ukraine. The longer the US waits the harder it will be to contain China militarily or economically. China might find itself negotiating worse terms than if they had signed the deal earlier. Particularly now that Russia is claimed to be on the verge of signing a gargantuan 100 bcm/y natgas deal with Iran.

Trump getting elected is a coin toss. It's a lot less "likely" than you think depite the "vibes". DNC and GOP aren't going to be super different on trade policy at this point. At least towards China. Yeah, GOP might be more confrontational and do something more direct, but Biden bided his time because of political considerations and the election. Not a good idea to upend status quo while you're campaigning.

China might see more sanctions after early November and I'm sure China knows this, but they might prefer concluding negotiations after the election just so that they're operating with more information even if it decreases their bargaining power. Less hurt feelings that way for both sides I think.

I thought Iran has a huge gas field itself, why would Iran need more gas?

The gas fields that Iran operates are in the South close to Qatar. In Northern Iran they import natural gas. It is difficult to build a pipeline through 4000 m tall mountain ranges.

It is also likely that much of this gas is meant to be exported to Pakistan and India.

EVRAZ NTMK invested 1.8 billion rubles in improving the quality of railway wheels

The company has completed the construction of the third final inspection line for railway wheels.
Every year, about 300 thousand wheels will undergo quality checks at the facility. The new line consists of modern equipment:
- laser geometry meter;
- two ultrasonic testing units;
- two magnetic powder flaw detection installations;
- unit for cold marking of wheels;
- robotic painting chamber;
- shot blasting unit.
The launch of LVK-3 will make the work of employees easier, and will also allow one of the existing lines to be stopped for reconstruction without loss of production volumes.

Tolyatti Steel Wheel Plant increased its production capacity by 2 million units per year
One of the largest manufacturers of steel wheels in Russia, the Tolyatti Steel Wheels Plant, has increased its production capacity of stamped-welded wheels for passenger cars and commercial vehicles by 2 million units per year.

The new robotic lines installed at the enterprise are the first in Russia, which allow the production of wheels with a diameter of 18 to 19 inches.

Investments in production expansion exceeded 500 million rubles. Of these, 337 million rubles. provided by the Federal Industrial Development Fund (IDF), the fund's press service reports.

The company, using funds from the Federal Investment Fund, purchased an automated wheel rim production line and a stamping line for disks with a diameter of 13 to 19 inches.

Thanks to this, the total production capacity of the enterprise increased by 2.3 times - from 1.5 million to 3.5 million wheels per year. The company supplies products to large wholesale and retail chains selling car tires and rims. Increasing the production of steel wheels in Tolyatti will allow the company to occupy up to 50% of the Russian steel wheel market, the report notes.

In addition, after completing the nomination procedure, the plant plans to supply stamped-welded wheels for AvtoVAZ and automobile manufacturing enterprises.

Putin declared the Northern Sea Route convenient for commercial shipping​

The head of state marked the Chukotka and Kamchatka region on the map, where the Northern Sea Route ends, but singled out Sakhalin separately. A nice report on the Russian car market post sanctions and how it came to be dominated by Chinese cars. Surprisingly, the Chinese cars sell for almost double their price back home, which is disappointing, but regardless of that, they are still far cheaper than their Western counterparts.

It is not about optics. But there seems to be a lot of wrong information about the deal between Russia and Iran.
The amounts of gas and the price for example.

Northern Iran has a shortage of gas, and it would not be the first time Iran imported gas to supply that part of the country.
Iran could also connect their gas fields in the South of Iran via pipeline to Pakistan and/or India and thus gain access to huge markets. Both countries are energy starved. Pakistan has 241 million people and India has 1428 million people. India is also the world's 3rd largest economy.

Iran and Russia both have the world's largest natural gas reserves. And Russia has in the past agreed on principle to build the Pakistani section of the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline. It is just that the threat of US sanctions and possibly Saudi counter influence has made Pakistan not build it. Pakistan is traditionally an importer of Saudi oil. They used it both for transportation and for power generation. This oil was heavily subsidized by the Saudis so they have huge influence economically. If Pakistan does not want Russia to build the pipeline China also has the technology. Iran has already built the pipeline section in its own territory. They are basically waiting on Pakistan to build their section.

I think it is possible Iran might just bypass Pakistan altogether and build an underwater pipeline directly to India. The Russians have the technology.

Iran in the long term could become a gas hub which connects to Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, and India and supplies gas to those countries.
Russian gas could also transit through Iran to get to India.
