Russia Economy Thread

Seems like it would be a nightmare for Russians to get used to the sounds,.grammar and writing system of Chinese. Then again, Japanese and Koreans study English because their economy forces them to despite Japanese and Korean sharing literally nothing in common with English.

English is compulsory in Chinese school as well

Chinese doesn't have nothing in common with English. Generally Chinese have better English than Japanese and Korean.

I get their frustration because you really need a big bulk of Chinese words before you can really start appreciate and used the chinese language. I

Im right now at about 550~600 chinese words and I feel it's finally starting to click after like 18 months of following lessons and me putting in minimal effort. Mostly memorizings word, and short text still need to do a shit load of reading graded books.

Having multiple lessons a week on an university level you could probably compress those 18 months I needed into like 4 or 6 months.

I think once you can comfortably read the 1500~2000 most common used words in Chinese you can probably get like 90~95% of a chinese written paper. You probably need a seperated word list for study specific words like a word list for physics, chemistry, biology etc.
Good job! You don't need separate characters for science though, just familiarity with reading alot about your field, so just keep reading. Huge advantage of Chinese is that technical Chinese is almost the same as regular Chinese. While technical English is nothing like regular English.

Chinese characters knowledge is exponential. First 1000 are hardest. Once you know 1000 most common, you can read regular books with dictionary which builds your vocabulary fast, then you will soon be able to pick up unknown characters by radicals and context. That will super speed your learning. The key is to not stop reading.

The quality of language teaching on Russian STEM programs is usually subpar and classes happen once or twice a week (in very rare cases - three times). I'm sceptical that this initiative will yield any promising results because it is too little to get a decent hold of Chinese language plus most people would be starting from zero unlike English that they learned at school and even then, most uni graduates have below average command of English.

I saw that the new hsk program will have some big changes and I personally think it's for the better.

Hsk 1 will go from 150 words to 500 words and 300 characters. Hsk 2 will go from 150 to 772 words and 300 characters.

I believe it's cumulative so at the end of the new hsk 2 you should know at least 1200~1300 words and 600 characters. That's a massive change compared to the 300 words at the end of the current hsk 2 study load. In the current system the same knowledge level will be reached after hsk 4.

I think getting hsk 2 level will take 2 years in the new system, while in the current hsk system getting hsk 4 will take you 3 years.

I personally think that the more compressed program will give learners a bigger feeling of having achieved some Chinese mastery after hsk 2.

Khandouzi also stated that non-oil exports worth $53 billion were 12% higher in the first 11 months of this year compared to the same period last year. The finance minister credited the country’s continued economic success to the help of Russia, its largest foreign investor this year at $2.76 billion.

“We define our relations with Russia as strategic and we are working together in many aspects, especially economic relations. China and Russia are our two main economic partners (and) Iran is going to expand its relations with them through implementing strategic agreements,” Khandouzi explained to the Financial Times

This Avtodor visit to China. seem multi days visit.. They signed agreement after indicating they increase road machinery purchase from China previously. this could also indicate scale of construction that Russia is doing that it ran out of construction machinery so soon.

This related to city of Sochi. If the manage to drill this tunnel for the route. Sochi can be converted into Megapolis. Russia south will get more prominent. as they are improving airports already.

Representatives of the State Company held talks with the leadership of large Chinese organizations China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd (CREG) and China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG). The main topics of discussion were the study of the production of TBMs, which are devices for drilling underground tunnels, and preparations for a number of works on the Southern Cluster project.
The project for the construction of the "Southern Cluster" with a length of 152.5 km includes bypasses of Sochi, the Adler microdistrict, the city of Tuapse and the city of Goryachiy Klyuch - with. Agoy. Travel time on the route from Goryachiy Klyuch to Sochi will be reduced from 7 to 2 hours, seasonal traffic congestion will be eliminated, and safety will increase. The accident rate and mortality will decrease by 4 or more times due to the outflow of almost 50 percent of transit traffic from settlements.
