Yes. I say in the description that is was out. We already got a new one this morning and put it on.

Have you ever visited Aspen Jeff and if so what is it like? A few of my friends are flying out today for Aspen to do some skiing and have a white Christmas. They do the trip every couple of years and tried very hard to get me to go with them..

It finally started to snow here.. we've been hearing about this storm for 3 days. We are expecting a heavy snowfall this evening and on into about noon tomorrow. Total accumulation should be between 5"-9" inches. (12.7 - 22cm)

I can hear sleigh bells!

Frigid temps will follow the heavy snow.

Freezing rain today and tomorrow in Toronto. Very very slippery and icy outside, even with winter tires.

Up in the mornin' with the rising sun..saw so much snow I know the kids will have fun!

Our church cancelled its service this morning. I was scheduled to be an usher.

Just peeking out the window I'd say we have about 5" inches(13cm) on the ground with a
about 3"(5cm) of addition accumulation expected.

Sounds like the same system that hit us a couple of days ago. We got about five new inches ourselves.

Stay safe over there.

Not so Jeff, this system came from the southwest and has built a lot of momentum..

Some photos of the snow in our immediate Cedar Rapids neighborhood. taken by Mrs Popeye about an hour ago;

Very nice pics!

Moisture coming up off the Gulf of Mexico then? Overriding a cold front?

I know being raised in North Central in Texas that we got the most rain...or snow...when those south winds blew moisture in off the gulf (hundreds of miles away) and it clashed with a front coming down from the north.

Bristol - SW UK has wet and windy weather for the majority of the holiday period, at least though its not too cold.
We still had leaves on the trees until early December, but the first of the current wave of big blows took care of them.

We have had a series of usually cold winters of the last half dozen years and so I wonder if this will turn out to be another.
On the plus side, we have know passed the winter solstice and so slowly we will get lighter again. Its a funny thing, but being preoccupied with work, the short days and early evenings have just leapt out of nowhere this year. Maybe a busy winter will ensure they will pass quickly as well.

Anyhow the pictures of Sunset over Clifton Downs a couple of weeks ago that I said I would upload

Yes, yesterday, the 21st we had:

Sunrise 8:17 AM
Sunset 5:12 PM

Barely nine hours of sunshine, followed by 15 hours of night. We're pretty far north too. Now though, we start getting longer days until the trend basically reverses by June 21st!

BTW, beautiful pictures. Thanks.
