Woo Hoo!, I just purchased my 1/350 scale Type 071 model, 998, Kunlun Shan. It's just out by Trumpeter and I got an incredible deal at Hobby Space, a Chinese online model store where I have gotten a number of models.

The distributors here in the states have not even gotten them yet, so except for demos, this will be one of the first in the states.

$44.00 US dollars is great (it will sell for over $100 here in the states), and $28.00 for EMS shipping. That's $72.00 total where the kit will cost probably $110 plus $15.00 shipping here, or $125.00.

Shipping here is faster...but I am in no hurry. This will be the center of my 1/30 scale ARG to go with my already completed 1/30 scale CSG centered on my

This looks more challenging than the Liaoning.

Is there any reason why Diesel is dearer than Petrol. Over here Diesel is substantially cheaper at the pump however road mileage tax on diesel which is paid separately results in diesel being only marginally cheaper.

It may have to do with the fact that commercial trucks use probably 90% of the diesel fuel consumed in the USA. Not sure. Or it could be the tax.

Well, the Liaoning had a large air wing which takes a long time to build. Also, there are more places for the photo etched railing. But the Type 071 has the complete well deck to detail, as well as the large hanger. So, I expect they will be of a similar difficulty, but in different ways. I do expect I will be able to finish the LPD faster.

It will be a really nice model.

I have a US Navy Wasp class, the Iwo Jima, LPH-7, and two San Antonio Class LPDs to build. The San Antonio vessels are similar to this...but they also have the vehicle decks to detail which are almost impossible to see.

Yep, sights and finger tab. But right now I'm not using my clicker. These are new arrows and new bow, so I want my form to "settle" a bit before cutting my arrows for the clicker (can't make them longer if my draw length increases and i've already cut them).

I do find the red vanes make the arrows a bit hard to see where they landed, or maybe I need better glasses :p

How about showing us some of your bows? If you still got them.

I have sold my two good recurves, my old Hoyt Compound has a nice machined riser, and two cams, I hurt my shoulder in PE last year, the fourth graders wanted to play dodge ball, (nerf tag for you politically correct fellow or ladies) , so I cranked the weight down. I saw another I should have bought, but thought I would go back later, it was gone???? So not much to look at, but still nice to shoot. I still shoot aluminum and feathers, I bought new arrows last year, but they seem to not want to group as well as my older lighter arrows with feathers, I am down to 5 of those??? LOL

I do have a few nice older Smiths, built on the N frame, I will see if one of the little women will give me some instruction on posting pictures, much like a bow, it requires concentration and good form to get a good group, although I have also taken several white tails with my iron sighted handguns, both 357 and 44 Mag.

I would like another recurve, but they are high, and I'm not sure how much weight I could shoot accurately for how long, I like the Black Widows and other high end take-downs, they are much smoother than the old Bears and Martins..... brat

Right now in Cedar Rapids unleaded plus is ranging from $2.97 to $3.05 a gallon.

E85 is $2.49 a gallon.

Diesel is $3.79 a gallon in some stations a little higher.

Regular unleaded is about .10 cents a gallon higher than unleaded plus.

Unleaded Premium is about .20 cents a gallon higher than unleaded plus..

Well now gas jumped up to $3.05 to $3.15 a gallon yesterday. The other fuels prices are very steady.

You guys still have unleaded petrol? It seems so long ago since we had leaded petrol here, one can't be blamed for saying that it went out with the dinosaurs.

My father reckons his Turbo Sabaru never went the same after leaded petrol was stopped no matter how well one tuned it.

I think you mean leaded gas. You cannot buy leaded gas in the US.

There are places in Texas and Mississippi where they are getting the gas for 2.71 and 2.79. Around the Houston area, and along the Mississippi.

Here in Idaho around Boise the cheapest is 3.68, which is ridiculous. My in laws, in Idaho Falls, ID are paying in the 3.20s at the same gas stations who get gas from the same refineries.

With the now proven reserves the US has, and the ability to get them in the oil shales, through fracking, off the coasts, etc. If the US people and our leaders made it a priority to provide the oil and refine it and produce it, the US pricves could return to the 1.60s prices we had in 2008.

I wish we would...but time will tell.

and he is exactly right, we are still able to buy 100LL avgas for 5.00-10.00 dollars a gallon, but can no longer buy 80 octane leaded fuel for general aviation aircraft. Even the 100LL is hard on valves etc, lead was/is an important lubricant, and many of the older GA aircraft have not been upgraded with the hardened valves/seats that enable them to last longer, in fact my little brothers Cessna 150 that he recently purchased, had several sticking valves, one of which had to be hammered out, it has a four cylinder horizontally opposed, air cooled engine of 100 horsepower, think VW bug on steroids..
