QBZ-191 service rifle family

Do we know how many QBZ-191 are already produced or will be produced?
Somewhere between 1 and a lot.

Jokes aside we've seen just about every branch receive them for their combat units. Even lower level conscripts with bayonet. Some units prefer QBZ-95 it seems for some cqc related units.

Optics are also well under way. It seems like most airborne and marine units have access to the full kit.

Seems that the QBZ-192's fore grip is larger because it can also be used as a makeshift bipod.

A foregrip that has a small deployable bipod is widely used around the world, and one of the first products is known as the "grip pod".
But it isn't inherently that much larger than a regular foregrip, as you can see below:

The reason why the QBZ-192's "grip pod" is so big is because that particular unit is the same silly "integrated grip pod" they had back from the 2019 parade which have some communications control buttons installed in it as you can see below

.... To be honest, I don't have an inherent problem with grip pods, but installing those extra buttons on the grip pod is a waste of space and poor ergonomics. There's a reason why we haven't really seen it widely used in the PLA afterwards, and why we've actually instead been seeing smaller foregrips be used on QBZ-191s in some PLA service instead, because smaller foregrips really make a bit more sense if one desperately wants to put some kind of foregrip on your rifle.

Ah yes the extra buttons I remembered that discussion before somewhere on this forum. It's probably not just bulky but more hefty too.

You forgot to mention that these buttons are widely related to Infrared Laser that is built inside the Bipod and has real time communication button so when communicating they don't have to pull their hands away just to answer the coms.

I'm pretty sure the grip pod does not have an IR laser built into it.

It has a communication function yes, which I mentioned in my post, and I'm saying having it built into the grip pod is stupid. There are much better ways to do it if they desperately wanted a push to talk function for coms, such as having a separate pressure pad.

There's a reason why no other military has pursued or proliferated a similar "integrated grip" like this, and even the PLA seems to have realized it's a stupid idea which is why we haven't seen it being used elsewhere. Even in this case, it looks like they're using it just as a regular foregrip with a semi c clamp which is one of the less stupid ways to use them.

Didn't the french try to do the same thing with their famas felin and then almost immediately dropped it for an HK416 rifle instead?

Found an image of it.
