That's a natural and fair looking forward clamp mostly on the handguard with the sensibly sized foregrip as a backdrop, and is a good demonstration of why foregrips don't need to be very long and also why holding foregrips directly isn't done much these days.

I wonder if that IR laser is just a mockup or real, and if it is real then whether it's just an off the shelf PEQ.

Since that's PAP we're talking about, likely have a few PEQ sitting in the armory, and now they've a platform to put it to use.

A rare, good quality image of a 192 equipped with the QMQ-171 holographic sight.

It's a shame that we don't yet know how good this sight is, particularly in battery life and ruggedness. Assuming it was actually designed and produced using competitive means (such as what hwoyoung/holosun can do which I think have proven themselves to be decent), then I feel like QMQ-171 really should be the preferred optic setup for the QBZ-192 carbine given the range and use case of this rifle.

And if they want to reach further out (or even if they want to equip a QBZ-191 rifle with it), then the QMQ-171 could be paired with a magnifier that features a quick release mount.

Another set of pictures showing QBZ-192 carbine with the QMQ-171 holographic sight.
And it's positioned in a better location as well, which would allow a magnifier to be installed.

Is that side rail a after market kit?

If to install a magnifier, then the QMQ-171 should be installed slightly more forward to give it enough space, as that setup seems rather tight, not to mention QMQ-171 have all its control interface at the rear.

Nah, for those two pictures, I think the QMQ-171 is actually positioned in a good place if they wanted to fit a magnifier. For the height that the QMQ-171 is at, a similar height mounted magnifier will have the magnifier tube be positioned comfortably over the top of the folded rear iron sight with more than enough vertical clearance.

Also, I'm pretty sure if the QMQ-171 is positioned forwards anymore than one or two rows that it'll be overlaying the handguard, which is no bueno.
