oh I thought because of the longer barrel, bipod and drum magazine, it was a saw versionWhat? Did you confuse the new DMR with the new LMG/SAW.

That would not be a SAW. That would be a IAR (Infantry Automatic Rifle)oh I thought because of the longer barrel, bipod and drum magazine, it was a saw version
I mean all those terms are just made up anyway. The real distinction is between belt fed lmgs and beefed up service riflesThat would not be a SAW. That would be a IAR (Infantry Automatic Rifle)
now I'm just confused, is the standard squad gonna have belt feds or rpk/iar type of lmgs?
aren't those things kinda notorious for having feeding issues?Speaking of drum mags, I'm surprised the PLA didn't invest in developing a box mag like something similar to what surefire is doing.

I thought that only applied to early models. I've heard that more recent models fixed the reliability issues.aren't those things kinda notorious for having feeding issues?
So do Drums. That’s the reason they are rarely used in assault rifles. It’s the reason Germany didn’t adopt the MG36, that M27 doesn’t have a drum. That RPK74 rarely uses them. The the cause is the same trying to get the spring and feed to reliably cycle as needed from a magazine that isn’t in a conventional box format.aren't those things kinda notorious for having feeding issues?
The technical problem remains how do you get a quad stack of ammo to narrow to a duel stack? In drums is how do you reliably maintain the feed from ammunition that is spooled and then is forced up the magazine well? That’s why coffin and drums are fairly rare in military service.I thought that only applied to early models. I've heard that more recent models fixed the reliability issues.
