If the decoupling causes pain to Chinese consumers and small businesses, there could be a chance their loyalty to the CCP would decrease. Also, many rich Chinese already own properties and have permanent residency in Anglo-Saxon countries (U.S., Canada, and Australia), and their loyalty depends on which side provides them the most long-term material benefits plus business opportunities. Capital flight is one powerful weapon the rich and middle class Chinese could use to backstab the CCP.
First of all, Bannon did NOT lived in real China, because Hong Kong doesn't count.
Secondly, he graduated from Virginia Tech, as well as Harvard Business school. It would be unfathomable if he DOESN'T have one or two close Chinese friends.
Thirdly, I judge him from what he wrote and his reasons behind what he advocates for. I am not impressed. Compare to whatever grand strategy he came up with, democrats and the TPP are much worse threat for China.
lol, BTW, two youtubers, one called SerpanZA, the other CMilk have lived in China for much longer than Bannon. They also claim to know about China, and confident about their own intelligence. Yet they don't know a f**king thing.
China already said not scared of decoupling from US. China will continue to do business with EU.

One thing you need to realize is - FEAR is what drives American culture to be the superpower that it is today. Fear made America strong by forcing them to be prepared. They are living in a constant existential crisis, and fear drives them to plan, to be prepared and to innovate. There is nothing that drives a man than existential crisis. Except Chinese LOL! Chinese never learn. EVER.
Chinese culture experienced countless existential crisis throughout human history and yet culturally Chinese are always unprepared. That's why Chinese suffers. And deservingly so.
