again, please make some comment on these pictures. This is clearly one of the earlier 039A Yuans that's already joined with 22nd flotilla. I don't think it's the first one though

The first picture from last year is evidently a YUAN II in Shanghai, I guess Hull 3 in August 2011.
The other four are just as evidently a YUAN I at Daxiedao, 22 Submarine Flotilla.

Is it the angle or does the Yuan have a slightly different conning tower? The corners look more rounded.

What's the total count on all of the Yauns now?
Have they produced more of this new design than the one we have seen?
These seem like very good SS designs and with the Songs, the Kilos and the Yauns, the PLAN has a large number of modern SS vessels available.

The new Yuan looks more streamlined and smoother than the older model, I wonder what the breakdown is in numbers between the old and new models?
The shape of the conning tower (sail) reminds me of the cap worn by Soviet submariners parading on deck - see old issues of Soviet Military Power.
Hopefully this new model will include AIP and other noise reducing features.
