Since the port is right there it could be for cargo containment buildings and cranes perhaps.

I estimated that the size of Yongshu Island is now about 3 sq km, making it the biggest in the entire SCS. Even bigger than Woody in Paracels.

Now I am looking forward to some big buildings.

We haven't seen any more recent pics of Woody, what if that little enclosure between the runway and Rocky Island is now fully reclaimed? It could still make Woody take the lead in size.

As for buildings, I sure hope they are building them up to typhoon specs.
