Those 037's must be running out of useful life.
To late/to expensive to upgrade, so 056 is a welcome and hard needed follow-up!
(I just wonder where third world nations need to look for affordable vessels now?)
Strange however I would have thought one of the many amphibious ships would be doing the supplyruns.
So definitely some showing of flag and (armed)strength.

That is a fine view of the Nansha Patrol Squadron (JIANGHU I 543, 545, 553, 555). The two modernised units, JIANGHU I 533 and 534, were still missing - they have been seen at Zhanjiang, but should be joining the squadron at Yulin.

I always thought the Jianghu Vs (558-563) were the dedicated patrol squadron for the Nansha area?

Here's a new photo of Fiery Cross Reef, China's largest outpost in the Spratly Islands. It comes from escobar in the 071 thread.

Here's a screenshot of an unknown reef in the Paracel Islands. It comes from a video posted by escobar in the 071 thread of a helicopter hopping between islands. It only has a lighthouse, low building, and dredged canal. Can anyone match it up with a Google Earth image? Unfortunately, Google Earth's images of the South China Sea are ancient, most are from 2005 except Woody Island which is from January 2012.

Here are some pictures of the Chinese outpost at Cuarteron Reef that I've collected from various Chinese and Filipino sources.

It looks tp me that mischief reef has the larger more modern and more elaborate facilities.
But strange thing struck me, on one foto we see an old fashion double 25mm over/under AAmount (prbably taken from a decommisionned vessel) on the other foto's we see canvas covered side by side double barreled guns (probably standard army type). which foto is the more recent one?

No. 560-563 form 2 (Independent) Frigate Squadron at Shantou, subordinate to Shantou Naval District.

559-560 have been transferred from Zhanjiang to Ningde to join 3 (Independent) Frigate Squadron, subordinate to Fujian Support Base, to replace 533 and 534 that were transferred to the Nansha Patrol Squadron.

Nice to see some old work horses firing off a few rounds in exercises. A crew of 70 on such a small vessel is hard to imagine.
