There was an article a couple days ago of how China is leading the way to giant aquafarming producing 30% of all seafood sold in the world. It is seen as the most efficient way to produce food. One pound of feed produces one pound of seafood unlike chicken where it take two pounds and cattle three pounds. And with the different types of seafood Chinese like to eat, it can be made into an ecologically friendly system. It's already a $100 billion business for China. Some aquafarms are planned for these reclaimed islands. Just have them go out 12 miles in all directions.

True .... China may do that in SCS artificial islands, far from Chinese mainland shores, hence much cleaner. I do hope Chinese will find a way to produce the feed purely vegetarian with GE algae for Omega 3 oil content

I think that number includes freshwater aquaculture.
