There are less operational Sovs left in Russian Navy than in Chinese. The backbone is 1155 Udaloy class and not Sovs.
Actually, I believe there are four active Sovs in the Russian Navy currently...the same number as in the PLAN. They are:
715 Bystryy Pacific Fleet
620 Bespokoynyy Baltic Fleet
610 Nastoychivyy Baltic Fleet
434 Admiral Ushakov Northern Fleet
In addition, they have four others in reserve:
720 Boevoy
778 Burnyy
754 Bezboyaznennyy
406 Gremyashchiy
As you say, the Udaloys are the principle DDGs, with eight active vessels (one of them the Udaloy II, 650, Admiral Chabanenko) and only one other in reserve.
