But the bridge IS different, with an open gallery running along the side and rear, as on the WOCHI class (which is why I thought it was one of those, and not a WOZANG).

Looks lika a design large enough for deep-water operations (+minelaying?)
anyway to large to be restricted to harbor/coastal operations since these vessels tend to be much smaller; any report on installed search and destruction aparatus?
(ps heard a report that french/belgian tripartite-class minhunter info was transferred to china; any comment?)

its the same size as 804 = smaller than US Avenger class or other fleet minesweepers, use only for coastal.

I seroiusly doubt that a tripartite was tranferred to china, haha....

in China, 804 is large enough and advanced enough to be considered the blue water MCM variant. And I think we have seen enough articles to see that it is considered for that role.

Although in reality, it's only place of operation are within the first chain of islands.

Due to the EU embargo on arms exports to China (whatever that really means) there is no way any French, Dutch or Belgian ERIDAN class could be transferred to China. However, if they wanted to have a close look at one, they have to go no further than to their good friends in Pakistan, who have had three since the 1990’s.

This is taken from JiangNan shipyard. This looks to be a follow on to the 804 type of minehunter. The only thing is that this does not look like the one that was launched in November. My guess is that this is the third one in the series, but who knows.

This is from Feb 12th of PLA daily, reporting about past year for a minesweeper flotilla of PLAN, my guess is the WuSong naval base. The most interesting part is in bold. Basically, it talks about 2 MCM vessels serving for 5 years more than their designed service life. And have not undergone repairs for 5 years. They are waiting to enter shipyard to fix or retire.

A new type of MCM vessel and 3 associated remote controlled drones have joined service. (my guess is 804 + 8041 to 8043). Another one of the same class and 3 associated drones will enter service next year (should be the one we saw launched at end of last year). I guess that's how they intend to use it. 3 drones per minehunter.

It certainly fits the 4th Minesweeper Squadron. I do not think you need any caveat about 804 and 8041-43 – and you got the confirmation that they are remote-controlled (which I doubted, seeing they are manned). The sistership is equally obviously the one launched at Jiangnan 18th November – which must be the one in post # 57. To me they look exactly the same. The old minesweepers in need of repair or retirement are also easy to identify, they must be T-43 831 and 832.

Glad you have overcome your original disinclination to take an interest in MCM units!

not really sure about that last part, they have 830, 831 and 832 in that flotilla. Hopefully, the Type 6610 will get phased out soon. They still have a bunch more around other flotilla.
