Also, don't foget sumbrines. They are important. We can use Sumbrines to protect enemy sumbrines attacks.:china:
Uh...look at that picture again. In the picture are two SSNs (nuclear attack submarines) that I list as two Type 093s and a part of the carrier group. Submarines are in there, they were nt forgotten.

Sorry, but I think 2 are not enough. At least 4. Also need more Ships for anti-ship and Air defence.:china:

Re: Ideal chinese carrier thread

Ok this isen't exactly the "ideal" carrier, but a glimpse from the past...

So like i've been saying in my earlier reply's, the first jet age carrier for PLAN was the pr. 085. It's basicly enlargened version from WWII-era pr. 072 which was in effect a derivation from the UK Illusrious class. Project 085 added angled flightdeck and had unlike it's predessor, a open US style hangar. In effect it's very close to the French Clemenceau class or rebuild US Essex class. Two units where build [79] and [80], first one laid down in 1958 and completed in 1962, seccond laid down in 1962 and completed in 1964. These ships saw extensive service life and where both rebuild in 1978-82. [79] was decommisioned in 1987 and [80] was modernised once again in 1992-3 and have been in reserve since 2006 (to be decommisioned when the pr. 087 enteres service)

DATA:
Displacement: 23,400 tons standart, 32,000 full load
Dimensions:
Length: 853.02’ (260.0m)
Beam: 134.51’ (41.0m)
Draft: 27.23’ (8.3m)
Armament:
Main: 16 – 3.9” (100mm) dual purpose guns (8 x 2)
Light: 24 – 57mm AA guns (6 x 4); 32 – 25mm guns (8 x 4)
Aircraft: 40 aircrafts including J-5/6/7 and Q-5 and SH-4 (Tu-91) t; 2 helicopters
Machinery: Steam turbines; 144,000 shp
Performance: 31.4 knots full speed; 5,000 nm @ 18 knots

NOTE: the drawing and data is derivated from the soviet pr. 85 light carrier program

Re: Ideal chinese carrier thread

Looks somewhat similar to an Essex class. Just a little lighter.

What a diffrent world it would bee if indeed the PRC and USSR did have a viable CV force.

Excellent drawing!

Re: will the 1st PLAN Carrier Battle Group (CBG) look like this?

Agreed...with one exception. I believe ultimately that the accompanying frigates in the first PLAN Carrir Group will be Type 54As or Type 054s.
well, may be they are using other ships today to get experience and replace them by 54As or 054s asap,
I also miss 051 C DDGs - and I am pretty sure, they also will become part of future PLAN CBG :china:

I think there clearly will be at least two 093s, and two 052Cs. I'm not too sure about 054As, though I think they're likely, as well as 051Cs or Soveremnys.
