PLAN Carrier Construction

Speaking of modules, didn't various parts of the Queen Elizabeth get built in different yards before being assembled in Scotland?

Yep, I posted these a few days ago, comparing the CVF vs this module

Eerie similarities

Although it's difficult to properly compare size. But I think we're all in agreement this module looks disconcertingly carrier like.

I'd always thought that if the PLAN would build a carrier they should do it modular, like the UK are with CVF. Most efficient, and also it makes it harder for us to identify the carrier once it's almost nearly done, meaning less time for foreign competitors to react.

It's simply too early to tell if a flattop is actually under construction right now.

I'd rather wait for the sections got put together into something more ship-shaped then make the call.

Then you're missing out on the fun

Speculating is the best part of PLA watching, and is something other militaries don't offer :p

... Which is part of what makes PLA watching so interesting, you can never quite predict what they'll knock you over the head with next.

Apparently this is merely a "test module" to prove JNCX can build a module of such complexity, etc, so it's not completely full sized and won't be part of a ship.
the pic of the full lha/carrier shape was merely an illusion

I think the question now, is whether this is a module meant to precede the first class of indigenous carrier, or the second class, because it certainly seems to have the trough necessary for a catapult, but we've heard conflicting accounts on whether CV001A/2 will be STOBAR or CATOBAR.

Also, will the time gap between demonstration module and production be similar to the 056 demo module's appearance and subsequent construction?

That certainly make sense, a mock up of a module rather than the real thing and that is what is likely here as we don't really see how they can be building a carrier it LHD here as the infrastructure does look a bit dubious, doesn't look like there is much more than just the module sitting there

Yes that is likely, but what is clear is that it is a flat top module, maybe PLAN set out a tender to the shipyards to submit thier units?

I agree that this seems carrier like.

If you notice, this module has 2 larger upper pieces (which in a carrier serve to sustain the large deck). Notice that there is a opening betwen the parts, similar to what you find in a carrier. I dont think any commercial ship would have that.

We will see, but probably this is a carrier test module or something like that.
